The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 928

“Yes.” The subordinate nodded.

Not long after, he came back to Newell, looking almost stunned. “Newell, I found out,” he said, his voice respectful but clearly shaken. He could barely keep it together.

“Speak.”

Newell sat in his chair, hands resting on his knees, his body leaning forward, eyes sharp and cold.

“Nine didn’t just find her mother. She found her father too.” The subordinate swallowed, then spoke slowly and clearly. “Nine’s father is Franco. Her mother is Nora.”

“What?”

Newell almost never showed emotion, but now he snapped his head up, surprise flickering across his usually calm face. “Charlotte’s father is Franco?”

Franco. The one who ran from the Hawk family. The former heir.

“Yes,” the subordinate confirmed, watching Newell’s reaction out of the corner of his eye. If Nine was Franco’s daughter, that made her the heir to the Hawk family. Which meant…

If he remembered right, Newell and the Hawk family’s heir had been engaged since twenty years ago. Back when they didn’t know about Nine’s real identity, the heir was someone else. Now that they knew the truth, Nine was the real heir.

So what did that mean for Newell?

Nobody could have seen this coming. But why did Newell look so unreadable? Shouldn’t he be happy?

“Go.”

Newell tossed his phone on the table, poured himself half a glass of red wine, and swirled it lazily between his fingers. “Keep it secret that Charlotte found her parents.” His voice was quiet.

As soon as she turned in her test, Shirley ran off the stage, almost skipping. She was flushed from nerves and excitement, cheeks bright pink, looking extra cute.

Andrew was waiting at the front. He watched her run toward him and started to reach out, but she barely glanced at him and zipped right past, fast as a breeze.

“Charlotte, I finished!” Shirley ran straight to Charlotte, grabbing her hand, all smiles.

Andrew just stood there, at a loss.

Charlotte gave her a gentle pat on the head and smiled. “How did it go?”

Shirley wrinkled her nose. “It was tough. I have no idea what my score will be. But at least it’s done!”

At the same time, Beck made his way back to the seats. Passing by Shirley, he caught her words and grinned to himself. The questions were so hard. If she managed to solve them, she’d have to be some kind of genius. He felt pretty good about how he did. If nothing went wrong, first place would be his.
