The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 958

She was teaching Jackson and the others how to handle things on their own, almost like she was getting them ready for a day when she’d disappear for good.

Anthony watched her closely, his eyes darkening a little. His voice came out low and rough. “Stop spacing out. Eyes on the road.”

“Got it.” Jackson glanced at them, pulled himself together, and slammed his foot down on the gas.

The black SUV zigzagged through the streets, sliding around corners. You could tell he was having a tough time dodging everything, but somehow, he managed to avoid every single attack.

Charlotte grinned, clearly pleased. Jackson was definitely sharper than Adonis.

Soon, the car hit the busy part of town. More people crowded the sidewalks. The cars chasing them showed no signs of slowing down. At this speed, someone innocent could easily get hurt. Jackson’s driving was good, but not good enough to weave safely through crowds like this.

Charlotte’s eyes went cold. She was just about to take the wheel herself when Anthony caught her arm.

“Sit down, buckle up. I’ll drive.”

Before she could argue, Anthony jumped into the driver’s seat, grabbed the wheel, and floored it.

The wind outside was icy, slapping Jackson in the face through the open window. He stared, wide-eyed, and grabbed the handle so hard his knuckles turned white.

They really were family. Anthony drove just as wild as Charlotte.

On the other side of the Isle of Veil, Aloys stood in front of a huge window, a cigarette pinched between his fingers. His eyes were locked on the gloomy sky outside as he blew out a slow stream of smoke.

“What’s happening over there?” His voice was soft, but dangerous.

“Aloys… we lost them.” The man on the phone sounded nervous.

Charlotte gave a small, satisfied smile. “I think my boyfriend’s pretty amazing too.”

Newell said, “If I’d known you’d actually go to The Gilded Wheel and mess with Aloys…” He would have stopped her for sure. Luckily, her face wasn’t all that similar to Franco’s.

Charlotte replied, “My boyfriend went with me, so I wasn’t scared.”

Newell went quiet.

Worried he might have died of frustration, Charlotte changed the subject. “I need a helicopter.”

“A helicopter, huh…” Newell let out a cold little laugh, taking his time. “Why don’t you ask your amazing boyfriend to get you one?”

And just like that, he hung up.
