Chapter 24
ZANE
I stood in the dark hallway for a long moment after I heard the lock click,
*Good girl.*
The words had slipped out before I could stop them.

I should’ve walked away. Gone to my room and taken a cold shower. Anything except stand there like a fucking creep outside her door, imagining her on the other sidez wide–eyed, breathing fast, clutching that stupid teddy bear while her thighs pressed together under that thin white shirt.
But I didn’t move.
Not right away.
I pressed my palm flat against the wood, right where her back would be if she was still leaning against it. I could almost feel her warmth through the door. Almost hear her shaky little breaths.
Fuck.
I finally forced myself to walk away, jaw clenched so tight it ached. Every step down the hall felt like fighting gravity. My body wanted to turn back and my mind was screaming at me to break that lock and finish what I started back in the bar.
By the time I reached my room, I was hard again. Painfully so.
I closed the door, locked it, and leaned against it, dragging a hand down my face.
This was getting out of control.
I’d spent the entire night at The Gridiron watching her serve tables in that slutty little skirt. Watching other men stare at her ass. Watching her blush and smile politely while they eye–fucked her. And all I could think about was dragging her into the back and bending her over the nearest
surface.
I stripped off my shirt and dropped onto the bed, staring at the ceiling.
She was under my roof.
She was in my fucking head.
And now she was working at my favorite bar, serving my teammates, my friends, strangers, looking like every wet dream I’d ever had.
I closed my eyes and saw her again.

The way her ponytail sticks to her neck when she’s sweaty, how her glasses fog up when she’s flustered. The nervous way she bit her lip when she saw tie.
My hand slid down before I could stop it, palming my cock through my sweatpants.
“Fuck,” I hissed.
I hated her.
I hated how soft she felt. How she didn’t break no matter how hard I pushed. How she looked at me like she both feared me and wanted me.
I shoved my sweatpants down and wrapped my hand around my cock, stroking hard and fast.
In my head, it wasn’t Maya I was fucking.
It was Astra.
Bent over in that tiny skirt. Those full cheeks red from my handprints. That soft, curvy body trembling while I buried myself deep inside her and told her exactly who she belonged to.
I came hard, groaning her name under my breath like a curse.
When it was over, I lay there breathing heavily, staring at the ceiling.
This wasn’t normal.
This wasn’t just hate anymore.
I was becoming obsessed.
And the worst part?
I didn’t want to stop.
I wanted more.
I wanted to push her until she finally broke.
Until the only name she could moan was mine.
I got up, cleaned myself off, and walked to the window.
I smirked into the darkness.
“Sleep tight, Trash–tra,” I whispered.
“You’re not getting away from me that easily.”

Morning light filtered through the blinds, but I’d been awake for hours.
I hadn’t slept much. Every time I closed my eyes I saw her, flushed cheeks, that tiny skirt riding up, the way her breath hitched when I pinned her against the wall outside the bar.
I jerked off twice more during the night like a fucking green boy. Both times moaning her name under my breath.
Pathetic.
I dragged a hand down my face and got up, muscles still sore from the game. After a quick shower I headed downstairs, hoping the usual chaos of the twins would distract me.
It didn’t.
Astra was already in the kitchen.
She was wearing one of those soft oversized shirts again, pale pink this time, that barely reached mid–thigh, paired with simple black shorts underneath. Her long blonde hair was still damp from her own shower, falling in loose waves down her back. She looked soft. Fresh. Innocent.
And it pissed me off how badly I wanted to ruin that innocence.
She was helping Lucas cut his pancakes while Mason quietly ate beside her. When I walked in, her entire body tensed. She didn’t look at me, but I saw the way her hand tightened around the knife.
“Morning,” I said, voice low, grabbing a protein shake from the fridge.
Lucas beamed. “Zane! Astra said she saw you play on friday! She said you were really good!”
Astra’s cheeks turned pink but she kept her eyes on Lucas’s plate.
“Did she?” I murmured, leaning against the counter, staring at her. “What else did she say?”
She finally glanced up and our eyes met.

For a second, the memory of last night flashed between us, me pressing her against the wall, my hand on her waist, the way she’d whispered my name.
