Shen Lu understood. Boss Jin was here for her special ingredients.
What she had been dreading had finally happened.
She just never imagined that the first person to come looking would be this Boss Jin, a man she didn’t know at all.
’What should I do?’
Shen Lu’s eyelashes trembled. The "mysterious supplier" was something she had fabricated. Even if she gave them a fake contact number now, they would quickly see through the lie.
And she couldn’t possibly expose her secret about having a system.
Torn, Shen Lu suddenly remembered she still had the Lottery Ticket she’d earned from today’s mission. Without a second thought, she used it immediately.
[Congratulations, Host, you have drawn the prize from blind box #7: one Word Spirit Technique Trial Card.]
[Word Spirit Technique: Simply recite the designated phrases to trigger the world’s one-and-only Power of Word Spirit, rendering you invincible and allowing you to conquer all before you!]
[Note: The trial card is time-limited. It can only be used for fifteen minutes, and you may only experience the lowest-ranked Word Spirit Technique.]
Shen Lu was rendered speechless.
’Couldn’t the system have given her a simpler, more brutish weapon? Like a laser Gatling gun, or the Thanos gauntlet? One snap and an enemy is gone. Wouldn’t that have been much better than this Word Spirit Technique trial card?’
But since she’d gotten it, Shen Lu decided to use it anyway.
A golden light, invisible to others, entered the space between Shen Lu’s brows. An indescribable power began to spread through her body.
For a moment, Shen Lu even heard divine Sanskrit chants from beyond the heavens, as if her entire being was being purified.
"What’s the meaning of this silence, Miss Shen?" Boss Jin grew impatient and gave his subordinate a look. "Have you not made up your mind yet?"
The subordinate understood. He pulled the small knife out of Liu Qiang’s thigh, untied his ropes, pinned his left hand to the floor, and swung the blade down to chop it off.
"Don’t!" Yang Jing screamed in terror. Liu Yaozu’s face went deathly pale, his lips trembling so hard he couldn’t utter a single word.
Liu Qiang was already dizzy and seeing stars from the pain of the knife in his thigh. Now, about to have his hand chopped off, his vision went black, and he fainted dead away.
Shen Lu knew Boss Jin wasn’t a good person, but she never expected his methods to be so vicious and violent.
’It’s absolutely impossible to cooperate with a person like this. He’s like a starving wolf, always ready to pounce and take a bite out of you. One moment of carelessness, and he’ll devour you until not even a scrap is left.’
As the bloodstained knife was about to sever Liu Qiang’s hand, her lips parted and she spoke a single word. "Stop."
The thug about to chop off Liu Qiang’s hand froze as if he’d been struck by something. The sharp blade stopped barely a centimeter from the back of Liu Qiang’s hand.
The thug looked completely bewildered. He didn’t know why, but upon hearing Shen Lu’s word, his body had involuntarily obeyed her command.
He had no desire to resist, nor could he resist at all.
But Shen Lu wasn’t finished speaking. She practically squeezed the next few words through her teeth.
"You damned fool. You’re playing with fire."
Boss Jin: ?
The thugs: ?
Yang Jing and Liu Yaozu: ??
Shen Lu closed her eyes. She wanted to hang herself with a noodle.
’Couldn’t the item description have been a little more detailed?’
’If she had known that using this lowest-ranked Word Spirit Technique meant reciting overbearing CEO lines, she would have let the trial card rot before ever using it.’
