LILLY POV
When I got up the next morning after getting absolutely no sleep because I was worried about my friends from the last base, I felt so guilty because I didn’t find the time to call them after I arrived here. Now it was too late.
If any of them did survive, I wouldn’t know how to get in touch with them.
I could only hope that they find out where I am and they come to this base. It can be a safe haven and I’m sure they won’t turn away any other Hunters that need a place to train and live.
I’ll have to ask Justin about that today.
When I got to breakfast I sat down in my usual seat, with no one talking to me as usual. I was still an outsider and I don’t think they really trusted me yet.
They all seemed to be really cliquey and I knew that it was going to be hard to bust into that.
But pretty soon Ben, Eric and Jesse showed up and sat around me.
I guess we were our own clique. The new kids on the block or some shit like that.
Ben sat next to me and immediately I could smell that delicious aftershave that he wore. I started moving closer to him, without even realizing it.
I didn’t know what the hell had gotten into me.
But then my mind started trailing back to my old base and my friends.
I was doing everything I could to keep my mind occupied and not think about it. Or at least think happy thoughts and think that my friends had made it out safely.
I hope they avoided those damn werewolves. They had to. I needed my friends.
I just wish they knew that before all this happened.
Justin finally came over and sat down to talk to me.
“Have you heard anything?” I asked.
“Well, it’s going to take a while to identify all the bodies. And there are a lot of them. They have to use dental records.” Justin said.
“Thank you.” I said. So he got up and left.
“So, a whole base of Hunters were taken out?” Eric asked.
“Yeah. I was just there a couple of days ago. There was nothing going on that would indicate an attack like this.” I said. And I felt Ben put his arm on my back.
It gave me a chill down my spine, but at the same time, it felt really calming. It actually calmed me down enough that I could start to think straight again.
I didn’t want him to stop.
As soon as we finished breakfast, we found Justin and he told me that I could take some time. But I told him that I needed to keep my mind busy.
I needed to concentrate on something else.
So he took us to another area of the base and we walked into another building that I hadn’t been to before.
It was a large gym with mats all around on the ground. There was weight lifting equipment all over the place but a large space in the middle of the room where we could do a little hand to hand combat.
