Miles sidestepped her, washed his hands, and leaned against the edge of his desk.
Claire leaned against the desk beside him, blinking innocently. "I have no idea what you mean, Dr. Zimmerman."
"You know exactly what I mean." Miles looked up, holding her gaze. "Taking my arm to make them misunderstand."
Claire leaned in slightly, her pale finger tracing slow circles over the button of his shirt over his chest.
"Misunderstand what?"
"Misunderstand that Dr. Zimmerman likes me?"
She leaned closer, their lips mere inches apart.
"So, does Dr. Zimmerman not like me?"
The man caught her finger, leaning back slightly to put some distance between them.
"Dr. Zimmerman, when are you going to make us official?"
"I completely devoured my little Miles. You have to take responsibility."
Miles's spine clearly stiffened.
He took a deep breath, exasperated. "Claire, could you..."
"Could I what?"
"Never mind." He gave up the fight.
If anyone was filthy, it was him.
Seeing his silence, Claire decided to stop teasing. "Alright, don't be mad, Dr. Zimmerman."
"My studio, Luna Atelier, is opening the day after tomorrow. I'd love to invite you to the ribbon-cutting. Think you can grace us with your presence?" She turned serious, her eyes sparkling.
"You found a location that quickly?"
She pulled out her phone and showed him photos.
"The ground floor of Square One Plaza in the city center."
"Hmm, good location."
Claire nodded. "The rent is a bit steep, but it's worth it."
Miles looked up at her. "How much?"
Claire gave him a number. "Since you're so loaded, Dr. Zimmerman, were you planning on helping me cover it?"
The man lowered his eyes, coolly uttering a few words. "Nothing better to do."
Claire rolled her eyes internally. He didn't even bother pretending; the man had absolutely no idea how to say anything sweet!
She plastered a radiant smile on her face. "Then you'd better be there on time!"
Claire stood up to leave, but her elbow accidentally bumped a stack of medical records on the corner of the desk.
