He carefully washed the brown bear mugs, setting them neatly on the drying rack.

Picking up the strawberry sheets, he turned toward the laundry room. "I'll wash and dry these before we put them on the bed."

His movements were natural, efficient, and methodical.

Claire kicked off her shoes and shamelessly lingered by the kitchen entrance.

Propping her elbows against the cool marble island, she rested her chin in her hands and shamelessly devoured his every movement.

He was dressed in casual gray loungewear that perfectly highlighted his broad shoulders and narrow waist, his rolled-up sleeves exposing a stretch of intensely masculine forearms.

A soft, sly smile blossomed in her eyes as she cooed.

"Dr. Zimmerman..."

Miles didn't look up from his cooking, a low hum of inquiry escaping him. "Yes?"

"You look like pure husband material right now," she teased shamelessly. "Care to make it official and actually be one?"

She dramatically patted her chest, volunteering herself for the position.

Miles simply turned back to the stove, utterly ignoring her bait.

Claire scoffed internally. Such a stoic facade. She'd see exactly how long his iron resolve would last.

He plated two steaming, mouth-watering bowls of pasta.

"Come eat," Miles called out.

Claire obediently sat across from him. As she ate, her gaze locked onto the hand holding his silverware.

His fingers were elegantly sculpted and incredibly long.

Unable to resist, she started flirting again. "Dr. Zimmerman, you have gorgeous hands."

"Do I?" Miles asked neutrally. He suddenly stood up, reaching his hand directly toward her.

Claire instinctively curled her toes, but then forced herself to relax.

Were those family planning supplies about to be put to use so soon?

She didn't retreat. Instead, she boldly lifted her chin, deliberately exposing the delicate, stunning curves of her neck in a blatant invitation, offering herself to him.

It was the most vulnerable part of her body, completely engineered to trigger a man's primal instincts.

The very next second, his hand brushed past her cheek, grazing her damp hair, completely bypassing her exposed throat...

and smoothly picked up her empty porcelain plate.

"If you're done eating, go to sleep. Keep your mind out of the gutter."

The plate was unceremoniously taken away.
