Bang!

With a deafening crash, the heavy wooden door was violently kicked open from the outside.

Inside the room, the two men who were about to force themselves on her spun around in shock.

Miles's gaze shot past the two men, landing on Claire, who was curled up on the floor, trembling uncontrollably.

She was huddled in the corner, a tear running down the delicate fabric of her dress.

Her face was flushed with an unnatural red heat, and her lips were swollen and bruised from her desperate attempts to stay conscious.

In a split second, every shred of reason and restraint in Miles's eyes burned to ash.

"You're dead."

He planted a vicious kick right into the center of one man's chest, sending him crashing to the floor, writhing and wailing in agony.

The other man was terrified out of his wits. He grabbed an ashtray to swing, but Miles snatched his wrist and ruthlessly dislocated his arm with a sickening crack.

He was like an enraged beast.

"Miles..."

Her broken, fragile whisper finally managed to pull his sanity back from the edge.

He instantly stripped off his jacket and wrapped it securely around her, hiding her from view.

With all the commotion, the guests from the banquet hall had rushed over right behind him.

The scene before them was absolute chaos.

A massive crowd had quickly gathered at the guest room door.

Jefferson immediately spotted Claire shivering in Miles's arms, and the two battered men groaning on the floor.

A rush of fury consumed him. He desperately wanted to storm in, beat the living hell out of those two scumbags himself, and pull Claire into his own arms.

That place beside her had originally belonged to him.

Yvonne noticed Jefferson's erratic energy and quickly grabbed him, terrified he was going to do something reckless.

"This is the Zimmerman Manor! Look where you are!"

More and more people crowded outside the door, their hushed whispers buzzing like a swarm of bees.

Toby squeezed his way through the crowd and ran inside.

"I'm sorry, waaah, it's all my fault..."
