Jefferson's frantic voice carried through the door.

As her sanity slowly returned, Claire's heart tightened. The sheer panic instantly overrode the drug coursing through her veins.

Jefferson had actually tracked her all the way here.

Miles stood up, his voice still incredibly raspy from their intense kiss. "Someone's there. I'll go check."

"Don't go—"

Without thinking, Claire's arms shot out of the icy water, hooking around his neck and dragging him fiercely toward her.

She kissed him again, mumbling softly, "Don't leave."

Half of her body was leaning out of the tub, her hands cupping his face as she covered his ears.

She kissed him desperately, completely uncoordinated. Her freezing, wet body pressed against him, causing every muscle in his frame to lock up.

In that moment, every single one of his senses was entirely consumed by her.

The surging desire flared up even hotter than before.

"Claire—"

He let out a low, rough groan and forcefully took control, kissing her back even deeper with a ruthless, predatory hunger that demanded absolute surrender.

With a flex of his arms, he scooped her completely drenched body right out of the bathtub, lifting her into the air. Water splashed everywhere as Claire let out a soft gasp and clung desperately to his neck.

Miles carrying her, strode straight into the master bedroom and kicked the door shut behind him.

Outside apartment 502, Jefferson was still relentlessly pounding on the door.

The information his assistant provided clearly stated she lived here, so how could no one be home?

Luna Atelier had just launched—how could she possibly afford such an expensive apartment?

Could it really be Miles?

A wave of anxious agitation built in his chest as he dialed his assistant's number again.

"Look into it! Find out exactly who owns apartment 502 at Grandview Heights!"

The door to the master bedroom wasn't shut completely tight, leaking a sliver of warm light from the bedside lamp.
