“Holy crap!”

“Are you serious right now?”

“That girl was incredibly bold.”

The entire booth erupted in absolute hysterics, people practically collapsing over each other with laughter.

Claire couldn't hold it back either, pressing her lips together to stifle a genuine laugh.

Beside her, Miles remained utterly stone-faced before abruptly standing up.

“Keep playing. I'm going to the restroom.”

Claire watched his retreating back, her smile slowly fading.

Was he actually mad? That reaction felt a little too intense.

A fuzzy realization flashed across her mind.

Could it be that the infamous letter was written by his first love?

With Miles out of earshot, Jared seized the chance to gossip.

“Ms. Jenner, I'm just going to go ahead and ask. Are you planning on making a move on Dr. Zimmerman?”

“Yes.”

Claire admitted it without a shred of hesitation.

“Do any of you know what kind of girls he actually likes?”

The group just stared at each other blankly. None of them had ever seen Miles with a woman.

Jared proudly thumped his chest. “Don't worry, Ms. Jenner! We'll totally be your wingmen!”

They joked and chatted for a bit longer, but Miles still hadn't returned.

Claire stood up. “Excuse me for a moment, I need to use the restroom too.”

Near the shared sinks right outside the restrooms, Claire spotted him.

The faucet was running. He was slightly hunched over, washing his hands at a methodical pace. The water droplets cascaded down his perfectly sculpted joints, creating a highly alluring visual under the dim, moody club lighting.

Claire walked over.

The precise second he turned around, she 'accidentally' pitched forward and collided straight into his solid chest.

She let out a soft gasp, her hands instinctively clutching his dress shirt as her warm, delicate body pressed flush against his for a fleeting moment.

“I'm so sorry, Dr. Zimmerman. I lost my balance...”

She tilted her head up, her eyes swimming with helpless panic, her voice sweet enough to melt sugar.

Her fingers maintained their tight grip on his shirt, lightly curling against the fabric.

She was testing the waters.
