The Darkmoon Pack was in chaos, but Aysel’s days lately had been… far too carefree.

Skylar returning to the continent was basically a lure designed to drag my mate out of the den.

She stopped staying in. She came home later and later.

And I-Alpha of the Shadowbane Pack, who used to think an office and a house were no different-finally couldn’t sit still anymore.

Before, solitude didn’t bother me.

But now, not taking Aysel with me to work already felt like restraint. Coming home after nightfall and not seeing her? My wolf, Rafe, paced restlessly under my skin.

That morning, Skylar announced she’d invested in a new film project. The male lead was, in her words, “criminally handsome.” She invited Aysel to visit the set for fun.

Aysel had never seen a live shoot. She woke up early, bright-eyed, excited, dressing carefully.

And somehow, I became her personal grooming wolf.

She stood in front of me while I braided her hair, issuing instructions like a queen.

Braiding my mate’s hair so she could go admire another male?

My chest tightened. My wolf growled.

I slowed down deliberately. Missed a strand. Then another.

“Hey!” Aysel puffed her cheeks. “You’re terrible at this-it’s ruined again!”

Fourth time.

How could I, Magnus Sanchez, who could command armies of wolves, suddenly be so clumsy?

“Forget it,” she said, touching up her brows and letting her hair fall loose, the braiding leaving it slightly wavy. “This works too.”

She turned, eyes bright.

“Do I look good?”

“Too good,” I said honestly.

I stepped forward, wrapped an arm around her waist, pulled her into my chest, and kissed her.

“Aysel… don’t go.”

I deliberately smudged her lipstick, breath hot against her ear, voice low and coaxing.

“I won’t go to the pack office either. Let’s stay home today. Just us.”

She pressed a finger to my chest and pushed me back, shaking her head like a rattle drum.

“No.”

If we played by my standards, she wouldn’t leave the house for three days.

Last time she went indoor climbing with Skylar, her legs gave out and she nearly fell. Skylar laughed at her for ages.

To avoid future humiliation, Aysel had strictly ordered me the night before-only once.

I wasn’t satisfied.

My hand slid back, familiar, skilled, drawing a soft tremor from her voice.

“Isn’t it fun with me?” I murmured. “I learned something new. I can show you.”

She caught my wrist, leaned in, and kissed me lightly-reward and warning at once.

“Be good. I’ll come back early.”

Knowing I was jealous, she kissed me a few more times, leaving my face a mess of lipstick, laughing.

“Skylar’s been busy for ages. Let her enjoy herself for once. In a few days she’ll be buried in work again, and I won’t go out much either.”

She knew I’d wait.

No matter how late, she would always come back to me.

We were together every single day.

Defeated, I buried my face into her neck, stealing a few more kisses.

“Fine,” I muttered. “You love her more than me anyway.”

She laughed softly.

Why was I such a jealous wolf?

She leaned close to my ear and whispered something, her ears turning red.

My eyes

lit up instantly.

“Really?”

“Really.”

Only then did I smile in satisfaction.

“Then I’ll wait for you, baby.”

She pinched my cheeks with both hands.

“Then can you complete today’s dog-walking mission independently?”

I nodded obediently.

“And no pretending you lost something to make me bring it to you,” she added, “and no calling people to cause trouble so Skylar has to leave.”

I coughed, touching my nose.

We clung to each other all the way to Skylar’s place. Before she got out, I lowered my head and kissed her again.

“Have fun.”

She kissed me back.

“Work hard.”
