Chapter 288
Third Person’s POV

Both Magnus and Aysel were well aware of Ivy and Olivia’s frantic attempts to pull every string they could to save their fathers and brothers.
“The others are hiding faster than prey scenting a hunt,” Skylar remarked lightly as she posed as a live model in Aysel’s studio, watching the brush move. “No one dares extend a claw. I heard James’s judgment is about to be finalized. Still-your Alpha really did shake the entire pack hierarchy. People outside are secretly calling him Lord Yama of the Wolves.”
The Darkmoon Pack was no small, insignificant clan.
A lineage that vast-rooted deep in old blood and ancient territory-had been torn out completely by Magnus Sanchez without so much as a howl.
Most wolves believed the Darkmoon Pack deserved it.
Others whispered that the pack had simply been unlucky-its only mistake being crossing paths with Magnus.
“Unlucky?” Aysel replied calmly, her hand steady as she layered color onto the portrait. “Magnus delivered them to judgment, yes-but they committed the crimes themselves. If they hadn’t been greedy, if they hadn’t left claw marks behind, how could they have been ensnared? At most, Magnus acted as a just wolf enforcing pack law.”
Some wolves forgot-
Twenty years ago, Raya and her child had suffered fates worse than death.
And the Darkmoon Pack’s sins ran far deeper than what had surfaced so far.
Skylar shivered dramatically.
“Alright, alright. Your mate-filter is at least a hundred and eighty meters thick.”
Say one word against Magnus, and Aysel would defend him to the death.
If others called him a demon king, she’d praise his horns.
If they called him a monster, she’d say he was magnificent.
Frankly, Skylar thought the gossiping wolves had too much idle time.
“Tsk, tsk-at least restrain yourselves,” Skylar added suddenly, sharp-eyed. She spotted the marks

hidden beneath Aysel’s collar when she leaned forward. “With that density and force… was. Alpha Magnus planning to chew you apart and swallow you whole?”
Aysel instinctively covered her chest, rare embarrassment flushing her face.
Magnus had been especially possessive lately.
They had been excessive-but she truly couldn’t withstand the shameless persistence of a certain Alpha wolf.
Her gaze drifted. She changed the subject smoothly.
“So… how are things on your side lately?”
At the mention of home, Skylar sneered.
“Same old mess. My dear stepmother finally figured it out-my old man may be foolish, but he won’t hand the Frostfang legacy to an outsider with no blood tie. So she’s changed tactics. Now she’s all sweetness and obedience, trying to squeeze out as much value as possible.”
Aysel fell silent.
Because of Skylar, she’d spent plenty of time in the Frostfang estate.
That so-called white-moonlight stepmother was skilled-one soft word, and Skylar’s father turned into a lovesick pup.
Watching those two perform a middle-aged mating farce every day was enough to make anyone nauseous.
“Still,” Aysel said softly, “be careful. I’m not afraid of open moves-only of poison in the dark.”
Skylar waved dismissively.
“It’s fine. I’m almost done wrapping things up. Once I secure all the shares, I’ll send the old man to a retirement lodge. If that mother and son are truly devoted, they can be bundled together and sent along.”
More importantly-
Her bond with Aysel was her strongest shield.
The stepmother and her son understood that too. That was why they’d changed strategies.
“If you need anything, say the word,” Aysel said.
Skylar laughed.

“When have I ever been polite with you?”
Just as Aysel completed the final stroke-
Knock, knock.
Magnus stood outside the studio door, dinner prepared, calling them downstairs.
Skylar stretched, rolling her shoulders.
“I won’t stay for dinner. I have a meeting with a collaborator later.”
“Save the last portrait for me,” she added.
Aysel nodded.
“I’ll have it framed for you.”
Downstairs, Skylar saw the dining table-richly laid, enough for three.
Though Magnus was always jealous of her, he respected how much Aysel cherished Skylar.
So he never treated her coldly.
He complained that Skylar stole Aysel’s time-but in action, he always left them privacy and treated her properly.
Skylar smiled, satisfied.
Let outsiders fear Magnus as much as they liked.
