Henry
“Like this, Uncle Henry?” Kaylee asks, using her body to punch Q’s hand that he’s holding out for her.
“That’s right Kaylee, put your whole body behind the punch. That’s what gives it power.”
Maybe I’m taking this moment to live my dream of a family through Quirin and his pups. I have my mate’s scent on me, her taste still lingers on my lips, and she has a cute, confused look on her face while she watches me.
So, for the moment, I can pretend that this is what my life would be like with Piper. I can pretend that I’m teaching our daughters to throw a punch, because if they’re anything like their mother, they’ll be just like Quirin’s hellions.
“Can I try, Uncle Henry?” Kendra asks, coming over.
I’ve been kneeling down so I was closer to their height, helping to show Kaylee how to punch by doing the motion with her, and showing her how to turn her body. So, rather than put out my hand like Quirin is doing, I tap my stomach.
“Let’s see what you’ve got, Kendra. Put the full force of your body behind the punch,” I say, tensing my stomach in preparation. As young as these two are, they’re freakishly Strong.
She gets into position, her little face screwing up in concentration, then she throws a punch closer in strength to a pup three times of her age.
“UH!” I say, grabbing my stomach and falling over as if I’m in terrible pain.
“Quinlee! Quilla!” Kendra yells, rushing over to me. “Uncle Henry, are you okay? Did I hurt you?”
“Where does it hurt, Uncle Henry?” Quilla asks, putting her hands on my face and looking in my eyes.
“Is Tyrus okay?” Quinlee asks.
“‘m just fine, little pups, don’t you worry,” Tyrus coos at the girls.
I Lay there for a moment more before sitting up. “Do you know what I’m going to need to make this hurt go away?” I ask, catching Piper’s eye and winking at her.
She narrows her eyes and begins shaking her head. I fight the grin and look at the three girls standing beside me.
“I’m going to need a quadruplet kiss from my nieces. Two kisses to make up for the pain of Kendra’s punch, and two to heal my stomach,” I say.
“Kaylee, come here!” Kendra says, holding out her hand to her sister.
I push my face forward and smile as four little mouths press kisses against my cheeks.
“Oh, feel that healing power!” I say, scooping all four of them into my arms and squeezing them until they squeal.
Then I kiss each one on the cheek quickly before releasing them all.
Quirin extends a hand and helps me to my feet, shakinghis head at me.
“What? There’s no question those two are your daughters.
They punch much harder than they should be able to.”
“You’re damn right they do, right girls?” he asks as we walk inside for breakfast.
“RIGHT!”
Under normal circumstances, I’d head home after breakfast, but since Piper is still here, I want to spend as much time with her as possible. She makes a point of avoiding me, but I can still watch her and her scent lingers arpund the packhouse making Tyrus happy.
When I see her get her bags, ready to head back to the Academy, I make my way outside.
After she says goodbye to Vivienne, I walk over to the driver’s side door and open it for her.
“What time should I pick you up on Friday?” I ask.
“You know, I didn’t actually agree to come to your pack next weekend.”
“And yet, I’m guessing that you’re curious enough about learning that new skill that you’ll be there,” I say, leaning my hip against the car.
She rolls her eyes, and I know she’s going to agree. “I can drive myself. I obviously have a car,” she says, gesturing to the vehicle I’m leaning against.
I lean forward, holding her gaze. “You have five days to come up with some sort of excuse to get out of coming tovisit me next weekend. If I show up to get you, it will be a Lot harder for you to say no. AND, that gives us a couple hours in the car alone to talk and learn more about each other.”
She frowns at me. “Like what?”
“Everything. I want to know everything there is to know about you, Piper Conley.”
She shrugs. “There’s not much to tell.”
She huffs and turns to get in the car. “I’ll see you Friday.”
Before she can close the door, I lean in and press my lipsto hers, taking one last taste of her before | let her drive off.
“I’ll see you Friday,” I say, standing up and closing the door.
I watch her take a deep breath, then start the car.
As she pulls away, I shove my hands in my pockets. It feels Like she’s taking my heart with her.
“I hope you know if you hurt her, I’ll come for you.”
I turn to see Vivienne standing with her arms crossed over her chest.
“have no intention of hurting her,” I say before walking inside to say goodbye to Quirin and his family, then heading home.
I have no idea how I’m going to last five days before I see her again. As I drive, an idea comes to me and smile, thinking through my plan.
When I arrive back at the pack, I’m excited. Next weekend, I get to introduce the pack to my mate.
“Alpha, welcome home. You look awfully happy,” Beta Dallas says.
“I am. Let me drop off my things and I’ll tell you all about it.”
“I can’t wait to hear.”
I’ve just reached my floor when I smell it. Justine. My lips curls in disgust. How did I ever think she smelled good?
Dallas, change of plans. I need your help to get Justine’s things out of this room. I want it stripped bare and cleaned thoroughly before next weekend,” I tell him in the mind link.
“Yes, Alpha.
I walk into the room and immediately open the windows to air Justine’s scent out of here. i have five days to eliminate her scent from the Alpha floor because I have no doubt that Piper will make me regret it if she finds her scent anywhere on this floor.
