After talking to Piper this morning, I knew she was nervous. The only way I know to show her that I’m serious is to just be myself. For a woman who comes across so confident, my mate has a gentle vulnerability to her. I like it that I’m one of the few people in her life that get to see that softer side of her.

“I can think of some other ways to show her how serious we are about her, Tyrus growls in my head as I drive to pick her up.

‘You aren’t having sex with Fallon until Piper has agreed to have sex, I tell him.

‘What if Fallon agrees?’ he purrs, already planning to go for a run with his mate this weekend.

‘You know it’s not the same for humans as it is for wolves, Ty. Behave. We’re building trust and I don’t want you to blow it because you can’t control yourself.

‘It’s not my fault that I find my mate irresistible.’

I can’t argue with that. I find Piper irresistible too.

When I arrive at the Academy, I don’t bother calling her. I don’t want her coming out to meet me, I want to go get her. I smile as I walk inside, realizing she’ll probably consider this old fashioned too.She looks a bit frazzled when she opens the door, but as soon as she sees me, her body relaxes. I take that as my opening to remind her that we can make everything work out between us. My mate wants me to kiss her properly and l am more than happy to oblige.

Since I’m enjoying myself, enjoying her taste, and enjoying the increased scent of her arousal, I don’t pull away from the kiss until she’s pressed against me, her hands fisted in my shirt, whimpering.

When I do, I’m rewarded with her dazed expression and sweet smile.

“Damn I like how you kiss me,” she murmurs.

* “This mouth was made for you, made to kiss you, and made to please you,” I say, nuzzling my nose against hers.” Ready to spend the weekend with me?”

She smiles and I see the flash of mischief in her eyes. ” guess.”

I chuckle, taking her bag when she grabs it off her bed. I know she hasn’t been with Zach since we met, but I’m thankful that her bedroom doesn’t smell like him.

I wait while she locks her door, then I wrap an arm around her as we walk out together.

“Are you still interested in stopping at that diner on way or did you want to go straight to the pack?” I ask, waving at Cyra and Yorick as we walk to the parking lot.

“You still owe me an alliance agreement, Henry,” Yorick calls out.

“Want to go visit Yorick and Cyra next weekend?” I ask

Piper.

“Already making plans to see me again, Alpha.”

“You’re damn right l am,” I say.

“Okay,” she says, then turns to Yorick. “Henry and I will be there next weekend.”

“Excellent,” Yorick says without missing a beat.

“Have a great weekend,” Cyra calls as Yorick takes Cyrus and puts him in the car seat.

“You too! Tell Alpha Warren and Luna Murmur I said hi,” she says, making all of us laugh.

“That really is a good name for her,” I say, opening the passenger door for her.

“Zach’s actually pretty good with nicknames. All of us got ours from him, although Raptor and Steel changed Yorick’s from Shakespeare to Striker because he took Stellan down with one punch.” 1

“I heard about that. I believe Stellan made the mistake of calling Cyra a whore.”

“Sure did. He fucked around and found out that you don’t mess with Striker,” she says, grinning up at me.”You’re so incredibly beautiful,” I say, totally distracted my mate’s gorgeous smile. I lean in for another kiss, but I don’t let this one linger as long. When I pull away, my beautiful mate looks at me shyly, like she’s not used to getting compliments.

I really need to find out more about her family. Someone this strong should feel more confident about herself.! want her to always feel confident with me.

She shrugs and looks out the window.

“You don’t see yourself very clearly, do you?” l ask gently.

“I don’t think it’s because I don’t see myself clearly. just don’t think that those things you’ve mentioned are all that spectacular, Henry.”

“You’d be wrong, Piper. I don’t know who made you feel Like what you do in this world doesn’t matter, but it does.

You give so much to so many. And I think you’re amazing.

Maybe THAT part is biased,” I say, grinning when her head whips around to deny my words. “But it’s the only part that is even a little biased. The rest is all true. You are an incredible woman, Piper. I said it before, but I’m not sure you heard me. I am SO proud to be mated to a woman like you. It makes me feel like a better man to know that the Moon Goddess found me deserving of a mate like you. I understand now why I had to wait so long for you. I needed to be worthy of a woman like you. I hope you find me worthy. I want to be worthy of you, always.”

She stares at me a moment. I’m not sure what I expected to come out of her mouth, but it wasn’t this.

“You’re such an asshole, you know that?””I’m sorry?” I say, completely confused.

“How am I supposed to deny you anything when you say things like that? Huh? Fine, we’ll tell everyone I’m your mate. We’ll tell them I’m their future Luna. I still want to finish school, and we have no idea how we’ll make this work if I make the Alpha Squad, but we’ll go ahead and tell everyone. We may as well have dinner with Connor and Madison too. If I’m going to be your Luna, I need to meet our closest allies and get to know them. Did you just want to go ahead and mark me this weekend too?”

l’d been listening to her words which were in direct contrast to the violent way she’s saying them. But that last part has Tyrus pushing forward so fast I nearly lose control of the car.

“Is that option on the table?” he asks, his voice a low, possessive growl.

She turns and blinks, as if just realizing what she said.

I yank Tyrus back in case he decides to mark her immediately if she says yes.

“I’ll think about it,” she says, her voice much softer.
