Henry
It took a lot of effort and Connor’s pups to keep me calm over lunch, especially when the subject of Piper’s father came up and I found out that the prick is disappointed simply because she’s a woman and not a man.
The man obviously doesn’t know his daughter at all.
“And he won’t unless she chooses to include him in our lives. If he tries to push himself into her life, he’ll find out exactly what happens when someone comes after the ones we love, Tyrus growls.
– I couldn’t agree more.
“Why are you smiling? I feel like I did something right,” | say, seeing the sweet look on my mate’s face.
“You make me feel special,” she says.
“You are special. You’re special to me. I meant everything I said to you this weekend, Piper.”
“I know. You made that abundantly clear when you tied me up last night.”
“I got the impression you like that,” I say, glancing over at her.
“It was scary and exciting. I felt painfully raw and vulnerable, and yet those were still some of the mostexplosive orgasms I’ve ever had in my life. Which is saying something considering how many orgasms I had this weekend and how incredible they all were.”
I grin, feeling pretty proud of myself.
She smacks my chest. “Don’t tet it go to your head.”
“Are you kidding? I’m planning to raise the bar and see how I can actually blow your mind the next time we’re together.”
She laughs and it’s such a rich, beautiful sound that I can’t help but smile with her.
“Our conversation remains casual for the rest of the trip, but I feel myself getting more depressed the closer we get to the Academy.
As I pull into the Academy’s parking lot, Piper turns to me.
“I had a really great time this weekend. I didn’t know what to expect, Henry, but you weren’t it.”
“You’re talking to me like this is the end of a date,” I say, pulling her hand to my lips.
“I don’t want to say goodbye,” she whispers.
“Neither do I. And anyway, it’s not goodbye, it’s Until I see you Wednesday for our mid-week date I say, feeling an almost desperate urge to stay.
“Will you come in? I know you have a long drive home, but”I would love to. I’ll stay as long as you want me.”
She gives me her mischievous grin. “What if I want you to stay all night?”
“Then I’ll stay all night,” I growl.
“Good. Maybe having your scent in my bed will make it easier for me while you’re gone,” she says.
“Do I get to roll all over your bed like you did with mine,” I ask as we get out of the car. I grab her bag then walk over and wrap an arm around her waist as we walk inside.
“I’d be offended if you didn’t,” she says, making me laugh.
“Yo, Pipes! What’s this I hear about a competition next weekend?” Yorick asks when we step inside the dormitories.
I begin laughing as Piper explains that I think she’s a better fighter than he is.
“Seriously, Henry?”
“Would you ever bet against your mate, Yorick?”
“Fine, you have a point. I’m still going to wipe the floor with you, Hellfire,” Yorick says good-naturedly.
“You can try, Striker,” she taunts back.
“Alliance agreement. This weekend. No more excuses,Henry,” he says as Cyra and Cyrus walk out of the dining hall.
I say hello to everyone, then we go to Piper’s room where I spend the evening and most of the night making love to my mate. I have to admit, I hadn’t noticed what a disaster her bedroom was before, but now that I’m actually in it, l realize that this is one of those compromises we’ll have to make.
In the morning after watching her ride me like the goddess she is, I stare at her room while she goes to shower.
When she comes back in, she looks at me. “What?”
“We’re going to have to allot some space in our bedroom for you. That way, all of this,” I say, gesturing to the room, can remain in its place.”
Oh my little Hellfire, you will be burning in my embers soon.
On the way back to my pack, I call Justine.
“Henry! Did you finally come to your senses?”
“Yes. I’ve scheduled Luna Kennedy to come to my pack in two weeks. I want to make sure you can be there.”
“You want me to come to your pack?” she asks, her voice just a bit too much of a purr for my liking.
“I’ll schedule to have Kennedy there around noon, so you can come in, give blood, and then head home. I wouldn’t want you to worry about driving at night.”
“There’s no rush, Henry. I can stay.”
“Piper will be there, Justine. There’s no need for you to be in my pack except to give blood so that we can confirm the paternity of your child.”
“OUR child, Henry.”
“That remains to be seen, Justine.”
It’s quiet on the other end of the line. “I’m not driving all that way just to give blood, Henry. I can’t believe you won’t take my word that this is your child.”
“If you’re so worried about proving that this IS my child, then you’d have no problem coming to do the blood test.”
“I’ll have the doctor here do it. I don’t need to drive all that way, Henry. That’s stupid.”
“No, Justine. What was stupid, was me. I had blinders on because I was lonely and I wanted a family. But now, those blinders are falling away and I’m starting to see exactly the kind of woman you really are.”
She growls. “Fuck you! And fuck your paternity test. I’m not coming.”
“Fine, then Kennedy and I will come to you,” I say, hanging up.
I don’t mention that I intend to bring Piper and Quirin withme too. No since getting Alpha Patrick prepared for a battle that he can’t hope to win.
