The Pack's Luna: The Pack Series Book 4 novel Chapter 42

Piper

I cling to Vivenne while I sob through the pain that has been tearing me apart for the last hour and a half. I never understood why I was so drawn to Vivenne. Even from the moment she came to our pack, I felt a pull to her. I thought it was because we were the same age, we were both strong women and good fighters. But now I know that it was more than that.

“I’m so sorry, Piper. I wanted to tell you. I really did,” she Says.

“Why don’t we go to my office where we can talk privately,” Quirin says.

I pull out of the hug, wiping my eyes with the back of my hand. “I still want to punch you in your face,” I say.

“I’ll let you,” she says, wiping her own eyes.

“Where’s the fun in that,” I say, making her chuckle.

“Are you okay, Piper?” a soft voice asks.

I look down and see a worried looking Kaylee and Kendra.

I squat down in front of them. “I’m sorry, girls. I hope l didn’t frighten you.”

“If your heart is bleeding, Piper, our mommy can stitch it up for you. She’s really good at it,” Quilla and Quinlee say, walking over and looking at my shirt as if expecting to find blood.

“Oh, girls, thank you for checking on me. Do you know what I think would help me the most?”

“What?” all four girls ask at once.

“I would love a quadruplet hug,” I say, opening my arms.

The girls rush into my arms and I have to admit, a quadruplet hug is really good for the soul.

“We love you, Piper,” Kendra or Kaylee says.

“Yeah, and we’re going to have words with Uncle Henry very soon,” Kendra says, pulling out of the hug and glaring at Henry with her hands on her hips.

“What did Uncle Henry do?” I ask, looking up at my mate.

His worried gaze looks over my face, making sure I’m okay.

“He didn’t tell us he was mated to you!” Kendra says, stomping her foot.

“Yeah! We’ve been asking the Moon Goddess to make you family and all this time, you were! We could have been asking for something else!” Kaylee says, incensed.

“Yeah, like making us strong enough to beat Uncle Wade in sparring!” Kendra says.

“Never going to happen,” I hear Wade call from across the room.”You’re family now?” Quinlee asks.

“Girls, Piper and Vivienne need to talk right now. You can speak to Uncle Henry and Aunt Piper later and ask them all your questions.”

“Okay, we’ll see you soon, Piper!”

“Yeah and we’re so glad you’re family now!”

I get another quadruplet hug. I don’t know how the girls know, but they just seem to know I need them to hold the hug for a few moments before they let go.

“Now we can tell people are Aunt is a badass just like our Daddy!” Kaylee says as they walk over to where Kennedy is holding out her hands for them.

When I stand, I reach out my hand to Vivienne. She takes it and her eyes fill with tears again.

When I turn to follow Quirin, Henry steps into my path, taking my face in his hands. He wipes the tears from my cheeks as he searches my face. Apparently satisfied, he kisses my forehead.

“Did you want me to come with you?”

“Yes, please.”

“Then I’m with you, Piper.”

When we walk into Quirin’s office, I turn, pulling Vivienne into another hug. “I can’t believe you’re my sister.””Let’s sit,” Quirin says, gesturing to a seating area. I’m sure Henry wants to sit with me, but I need to be close to Vivienne. I need to know why she never told me.

“First, do we know who this man is that Alpha Glenn thinks he’s going to force my pack member into a mate bond with?”

I look at Vivienne. “I don’t. He didn’t give me a name. Just said it was someone who would make sure you lived in comfort, or something like that.”

Vivienne snorts. “Your dad’s idea of comfort and mine are very different. If I had to guess, Id say he found one of my johns.” She shrugs. “I was in high demand, being a shifter, have a higher stamina than human women and I heal faster,” she says, sadly.”So, someone who would have been willing to pay for you?” Henry says, squeezing my shoulder. I lean back, wanting more of his touch. He slides his chair closer and wraps his arm around me from behind.

“That’s illegal and something we can get our friends at the Academy to look into for us. “Second,” Alpha Quirin says, looking at me. “You should consider accepting Henry as your Alpha.”

I frown, turning to look at Henry. He’s looking at Quirin, like he’s not following his train of thought either.

“If Alpha Glenn is willing to sell one daughter off, I’m sure he’s willing to sell the other. You’d go for a much higher price,” he says, remaining calm even through Henry snarls loudly enough to shake the room.

I hop up and quickly sit in Henry’s lap, wrapping my arms around him. I understand his fury and want to help calm him.

“Mine,” he growls, wrapping his arms around me and burying his face in my neck.

I run my fingers through Henry’s hair while he takes deep breaths of my scent.

“Do you really think he would do that?” I ask Alpha Quirin.

“Yes,” both Quirin and Vivienne say. “And I say you’d go for a higher price because you’re an Academy graduate. Trust me, from everything I’ve heard about your father, hedidn’t let you go the Academy out of the goodness of his heart,” Quirin adds.

“He didn’t let me. I pay for it myself. I was an adult when I came to the Academy. He didn’t have to sign anything,” / say.

“He could have kept you from going. He could have contacted the Academy and caused problems, just like he did with Vivienne’s mother. With Alpha Leo, he could have even paid to have you rejected. He didn’t. Quirin’s right.

You need to be completely out from under your father and brother. If you don’t want to accept me, consider Quirin, or even Cyra and Yorick. But you need to get away from them, Piper,” Henry says, before looking at Vivienne. “I would assume that Alpha Grady knows about what happened to your mother?”

“Who do you think hid the body?”
