I’m so fucking furious. Never in my life have I felt fury like I felt standing here, watching Piper’s father and brother try to intimidate her into doing what they wanted her to do, trying to control my mate, trying to force her away from me.

I know asshole Alphas exist. But in my mostly sheltered life, I’ve been lucky enough to not be exposed to them.

Standing here, watching Grady threaten to take Piper’s money so she’d have to come home, watching that satisfied smirk as if he could possibly make my incredibly powerful mate bend to his will, I felt something deep inside me snap.

“Piper ..” I hear Yorick say.

I don’t turn to see what he wants. I’m staring at the door where Alphas Glenn and Grady left, and I’m seeing red.

Tyrus is so close to charging after them, wanting to kill them for threatening our mate, that I don’t dare move or I might lose control of him.

“Hey. Henry,” Piper says, her voice calm and soothing in a way I’m not used to.

“Look at me, Henry. Look at me. I’m right here. You and Tyrus protected me. I’m right here,” she says softly. Her hands cup my face, pulling it away from the door so I’m forced to look at her.”I’m right here.”

I snarl, yanking her to me, crushing her against me. ” MINE!” Tyrus snarls again.

Her arms come around me. “Yes, I am. I’m yours and I’m safe, Tyrus. I’m right here,” she purrs. I can feel Fallon’s presence, wanting to soothe her mate. “The threat fs gone, Tyrus. I’m safe,” Fallon says.

He buries our face in her neck, breathing deeply.

“They will die for trying to take you from me,” Tyrus snarls.

“It’s more than just Alpha Piper, Alpha Henry,” someone says. Tyrus snarls, looking past Piper to the three tech

– team members and two men who escorted Alphas Glenn and Grady off campus.

“Tyrus, give Henry control. We have a meeting tonight and Hijack is right. We need to help others like Vivienne, remember? We knew my father and brother were assholes. This is bigger than me…”

“You are mine! Mine to protect! Mine to love! Mine to claim!” Tyrus snarls.

“Yes. No one here is denying that, Tyrus. Give Henry control. There are others that need our help. My father and brother will be brought down, but we need to do it the right way so we can help others, like Vivienne.”

Tyrus, she’s right. Give me back control, I say. I’ve never struggled this much to control Tyrus. But then, I’ve neverhad a mate to protect either.

He pulls Piper against us again. “Alpha Jasper and Alpha Christer get off easy for what they did to and said about Kennedy. Glenn and Grady better never come near you again or they will see just how terrifying I can be,” Tyrus snarls before finally pulling back and letting me forward again.

I look into Piper’s beautiful blue eyes, watching her as she assesses me.

“There he is,” she says softly. I lean forward, pressing my lips to hers. She opens the link between us, pouring her love and gratitude for me through the link. If we were marked, la probably have felt it already, but without the mate bond in place, I’m forced to use the mind link.

When I pull away from the kiss, I tuck Piper under my arm.

She doesn’t fight me. Instead, she wraps her arms around me and presses her body against mine, helping to further calm Tyrus.

“Are you good, Henry?” Yorick asks.

look up and see the entire Academy watching me carefully.

“I have Tyrus under control again, but I want them gone. I want them to lose their status, their money, everything that they use to wield power over others, I want it gone. I want them powerless. I want them to see what it feels like to have someone else wield power over them,” I growl.”That’s what we’re going to do, Alpha. We need to go through the proper steps. We need to get the evidence of their wrongdoing. Then we’ll bring them down,” Alpha Lane, aka Hijack, says.

I can feel Piper pushing her calm into me. I lay my head on hers, taking another deep breath of her scent.

“Do you want to go for a run before our meeting?” she asks.

“No. I don’t trust Tyrus yet,” I say.

“Want to go hit someone?” Yorick offers.

“Or a couple of someones?” Zach asks.

“We’re good for that,” Landon, Yorick’s new Gamma says.

“Yeah. Maybe that will help,” I say.

“I’ll grab a pair of shorts and you can take out your frustration on some Academy brats,” Yorick says.

“Will you be okay?” I ask Piper.

She smiles at me. “Apparently, I have an entire Academy who’s got my back. I’m good. Go burn off your anger so we can focus on our meeting. I’ll get you some food.”

I pull her into a kiss, happy when she easily submits to my demanding, possessive kiss. She waits until | pull back, giving me her sweet, Piper smile.”Go kick some ass. Make sure you use that move on them,” she says, grinning.

“I will,” I say.

When I look up, Yorick is holding a pair of shorts. “Let’s go.”

“Mind if join in?” the woman who stood beside Piper asks.

“Just remember he’s mine, Megan, and I’ll rip your hands off if you touch him in any way other than fighting,” Piper says to her.

“Those days are over, Piper.”

“Then have at him. Don’t show her that move yet, Henry.

I’m still working on it,” Piper says. “I want to use it on her.”

“I need a shower,” I say.

“We can do both, as long as Megan showers quickly,” she says, grabbing two towels and taking my hand. “You’ve got quite a few bruises on you, Alpha.”

“Those are some tough fucking warriors, Alpha,” I say.”I want to have a conversation later about your plans.

Seeing the others, hearing how tight the competition is for you, I want to make sure that you’re going after your dreams, Piper.”

She steps into the bathroom looking around. Then she pulls me in and locks the door.

“Burn off energy now, talk later,” she says, stripping off her clothes.

I have her pressed against the wall and I’m thrusting into her before the last of her clothes hit the floor. She growls, turning on the water beside us. The cold water hits me, but it does nothing to cool the heat in my body for my mate.

Because I need it and because I know she likes it, I take her hard and fast, pushing her up and over the edge before pulling out of her, spinning her toward the shower wall, grabbing her hips and thrusting into her again. I growl, and Tyrus pushes forward, possessively growling ‘mine’ as I push her from one orgasm to another before emptying myself inside her.

When I collapse against her, pressing her against the wall, we’re both panting.

“I want some more of that later,” she purrs. “But right now, we have a date with the tech team.”

I nip at her throat and her shoulder.

“You don’t get to ride tonight,” I growl. “I’m in charge.”

“You know I love the way you love me, Henry,” she says, turning her head and kissing me. When I feel my body responding, I pull out of her.”Later,” I growl.

“Definitely,” she growls back.

We finish showering quickly and I put my clothes from before back on. Piper leads me to another room in the Academy and knocks on the door.

When it opens, I see the tech team is already set up, and Quirin and Vivienne are on the video monitor.

“Piper! They said Alpha Glenn and Alpha Grady showed up at the Academy. Are you okay?” Vivienne asks.

Q is watching me. I know he understands the turmoil inside me.

“Yeah, Viv. But you should have seen their faces. They’re pissed and it was SO good to see them unable to wield their fucking power here.”

As we sit, Warren and Wendy join the call along with the Council.

“Alright, we’re all here. Let’s get started,” Hijack says.
