It takes everything in me not to growl when Piper tells me her brother emptied her account. I was struggling to let her buy me dinner, I knew it was important to her, and her brother took that away from her.

“I can’t fucking believe it,” she says.

Honestly, I’m not surprised, not after seeing how arrogant Glenn and Grady were. If I’d been thinking more clearly, I’d have told her to transfer her money out of that account, but Grady probably emptied the account as soon as they left the Academy, so it wouldn’t have mattered. We would have just known sooner.

“We’ll get your money back, Piper, and I meant what I said to Councilman Edward. I have no problem paying for the Academy. For me, it’s not about the money, it’s about their arrogance and thinking that they can try to force you home against your will,” I say as we walk out of the restaurant.

I pull my phone up to my face. “Hacker, call me,” I growl.

open Piper’s door and when she gets in the car, I put the phone up to my face again.

“Hacker, call me.”

I get in the car and start it, putting the phone to up to my face again. “Hacker…”

When it rings with an unknown number, I answer immediately.

“Hacker?”

“You know I’m not actually listening in all the time right?

It takes a second for me to get the notification, then see if you’re really talking about me. It’s illegal to listen in to someone’s phone indiscriminately,” he says.

“Fine. We have a problem.”

“I figured. What’s up?”

“Grady emptied Piper’s account,” I tell him.

“Hang on,” he says. I hear a lot of typing. “Is Piper with yOu?”

“I’m here.”

“Do you give Hijack and I permission to hack into your bank account?” he asks.

“Yes.”

“We’re on our way back to the Academy. We’ll be there in about fifteen minutes,” I say.

“Come to my room when you get back. We’ll give you an update when you arrive.”

“See you in a few.”hang up and dial Q.

“Brother, aren’t you with Piper?”

“Yes,” I growl and tell him about Grady.

“Foolish of him. Have you notified the council?”

“Not yet. We called Hacker. He and Hijack are tracking it right now.”

“Let me know if we’re going to war. I’ll call Connor and Warren.”

“Thanks, Q.”

“You know I love the opportunity to kill assholes,” he growls before hanging up.

“They’ll really go to war? Just like that?” Piper asks.

“Yes. And we would do the same for them. That’s why the alliance agreement with Yorick and Cyra isn’t necessary for me. It’s a formality for the council to know who is allied with whom. But, I’m pretty sure they know we’re allied already.”

As we drive, I realize my mate is unusually quiet. I take her hand and pull it to my lips.

“I’m sorry your brother ruined our date. I know that buying me dinner was important to you. I promise l let you make it up to me, but I was loving our night and the restaurant you chose for us before that,” I tell her. “I feltspecial. No one has ever bought dinner for me before,’ say.

She turns and looks at me, anger and sadness warring in her eyes. “No one has bought you dinner now either.”

“But it was the thought that counts, Piper. You cared enough to WANT to show me how much you love me, and that means everything to me. This is temporary. Don’t let it interfere with your studies.”

“I want to call him,” she growls.

“Oh please, allow me,” I growl back.

She smiles, dials, and hands me her phone, putting it on speaker.

The asshole answers on the second ring.

“Piper? Ready to come home?” he asks smugly.

“Grady, this is Alpha Henry and Piper won’t be coming to your pack ever again,” I growl. “Her home is now in my pack.”

He snarls.

“Let me guess. You weren’t expecting me to be around, were you? You thought since she was at the Academy this week and l’d be in my pack that you could try to intimidate her into returning to your pack. Well, you were wrong. You messed with the wrong Alpha and I’m not talking about me. I’m talking about Piper. She’s a strong,powerful woman with strong, powerful allies. copied from job{nib.{c-om I warned you not to mess with one of mine, but you were too fucking arrogant to listen. Well, you fucked with the wrong Alphas. I will be bringing the full force of the law and the council down on you, your father, and anyone else who is involved in this. Fuck with Piper again, and I will consider it an act of war,” I say, before hitting the disconnect button.

I stare out the windshield at the Academy’s parking lot, panting with my fury.

“Do you know how much I want you right now?” Piper says. I turn and frown at her, shocked by her words.

“That was so fucking hot. No one has ever stood up for me Like that before. I’m not sure any of the good Alphas that! know would have said what you did, empowering me against my brother like that.”

I growl, getting out of the car and going around to get her.

“We don’t have long,” I growl, taking her hand and leading her inside.

“As if it ever takes me long to come when you’re inside me,”. she growls back.

We barely make it to her bedroom before we’re shredding each other’s clothes and I’m slamming into her soaking wet heat, making her come almost instantly. I don’t stop, not caring who hears her as I push her from one orgasm to the next, roughly thrusting into her until I find my ownrelease. When my canines extend, I bite into her shoulder, making her come again as I push her through her orgasm as she claws my back, sinking her own teeth into my shoulder.

When I pull out of her, licking the wound on her shoulder closed, I help her to her feet. “There will be more of that later,” I say, not yet having had my fill of my mate.

I squeeze Piper’s hand as she closes her eyes. “That’s who paid for my sister?” she growls.

“We don’t know that for sure yet, but it makes sense given everything we know. I’m guessing you threatened yourbrother tonight, Alpha Piper,” Hijack says.

“I did,” I snarl.

“Yeah, well, it’s a good thing we already tracked this money because he’s moving it as fast as he can,” Hacker says.

“Is that a problem?” | ask, worried now that I’ve impeded their investigation.

“Only if he was a better Hijacker than I am, which he’s not,” Hijack says.

“Plus, there’s a money trail from Gamma Nathan and we’re connecting this payment trail to the trail of payments for your sister’s and other women’s services,” Hacker says.

“That trail is also giving us names that we think are a good starting point for your sister, Alpha Piper,” Tracker says.

“What about the murder of Vivienne’s mother?” Piper asks them.

“We put that on hold when we found the money and started tracking that, and now this. You should know that Alpha and Beta Squads have been dispatched to pick up your brother, Alpha Piper. He will be in custody before tomorrow morning.”

“He’ll call the pack to battle,” she says.

“They’re expecting it. That’s why both squads were dispatched along with four council members,” Hacker tellsus.

“So, my father will take over the pack. That’s not any better,” she says.

“I’m still trying to find connections between your father and the money. He contacted you about Vivienne, so if nothing etse, he’s an accessory. For that alone, they’ll arrest him, but they may not be able to hold him for as long as they can hold your brother,” Hijack says.

I look at Piper. “Who will take over the pack if your father and brother are arrested?”

“It would have to be Gage. Gavin is only seventeen.”

“We can call him tomorrow, if you’d like,” I say.

“T’ll think about it. I’ve been gone for almost a year. I have no idea what he’s like now. If any of them were salvageable, it would have been Gavin.”

“We can contact Gavin if you’d like. Whatever you want, whatever you need, I’m here for you,” I tell her.

“I know,” she says, giving me her sweet Piper smile.

I lean forward and press a kiss to her lips before turning back to Hacker.

“What about Gamma Nathan? He’s not innocent in this, not if he’s trying to buy Vivienne.”

“We’re still working on that one,” Hacker says.I hold his gaze. “I also want to know who they have in mind to buy my mate,” I growl.

“We’re working on that too,” he says, letting me know that Glenn and Grady were finalizing a deal to sell my mate, which is why they needed Piper in their pack and under their control.
