Olivia’s POV-
Being in a room alone with c*****e has me all sorts of messed up. I want him to grab me and kiss me, but I also want to run to the other end of the room, not because I am afraid but because I want him to chase me. I also want to check the room for cameras and hear what he has to say.
God, it is so hard to think clearly when he is in a room with me alone.
“You have five minutes,” I said, trying to stay as calm as possible while hurrying this along.
“I know about the bruises and the bandage, about the abuse. I want to help. The Phoenix Knights want to help,” c*****e began.
“Why?” I asked, crossing my arms across my chest.
“You know when I first met you, I thought you had the most beautiful eyes, but I also thought they were familiar to me. Katie helped me place that familiarity today. When she saw your birthmark, we knew. That is why we left school, we went to our clubhouse to find him,” he said.
“To find who?” I asked, narrowing my eyes.
“Your biological father,” c*****e replied.
I stumbled back, catching myself at the nearest desk, so that I wouldn’t fall over. c*****e grabbed my arm to help steady me. I opened my mouth to say something but nothing came out. I wanted to say he was lying, but all I could see was the urgency in telling me so that he could keep me safe. A part of me wanted to believe him completely. I still think I should confront my mother. I was silent, pondering the new information.
So, he continued, “His road name is Gold, he is our club treasurer. A powerful man. But his real name is William Anderson, the owner and founder of Anderson Tech. Your mother used to date him, but then she just got up and left him without a word. Gold wants to fight for you, legally. You are under eighteen, he could try and get custody, and he wants to, because he knows what you are going through.”
My bottom lip trembled, “He has been that close to me all this time. Why didn’t I look harder?”
Tears slipped from my eyes, which c*****e quickly wiped away, cupping my face, as he said, “It is not your fault. But the choice is yours now. He wants to meet you, the club will when they hear about you. My parents want to meet the girl who has invaded my soul and stolen my heart.”
I blinked up at him. Did he just slip his declaration of love right on in there?
I found my eyes drifting to his lips, and his to mine. He leaned in and pressed a kiss to my forehead and whispered, “I want to kiss you. But I know you said five minutes because you wanted to get home and gather your things. So, I won’t keep you for long. I am here for you.”
“I want to confront my mother first, and then I need to gather my things. I will text you when and where to meet. I am guessing you have people watching my house, and me too,” I said.
He nodded, “Prez ordered it.”
“Front left side of the house, second floor window, just above the driveway, is my bedroom. In case you don’t hear from me in the next couple of hours,” I said, stepping away from him, his hands catching mine.
“If I don’t hear from you in an hour, I am coming for you,” he responded.
I nodded and moved to turn and leave the room, but I stopped. I was still holding his hand. I looked down at how gently this big man was holding my hand. How he declared his love and showed he cared for me more than anyone else had in the nearly eighteen years I have been alive.
I stepped closer to him, rose up on my toes, and pressed my lips to his cheek, in one very quick movement. Even though he had been watching me the entire time, he was clearly stunned and surprised by the gesture.
But before he could say anything, I ran from the room, waved goodbye to my friends, before hurrying from the school building and into the parking lot.
