Katie and Kenneth’s (Wolf) Story- Chapter 2
Katie’s POV
For the next five minutes, I kept my head down and got things ready for the morning like always did. Then I heard a thud. I glanced towards the office and saw Alejandro fast asleep, passed out across his desk. Thank fuck it worked. I ran straight upstairs, slipped my jacket and sneakers on. ! grabbed my backpack, and ran out of the house.
As soon as I got out onto the main street, I hailed a taxi, and asked him to take me to the bus station. There were going to be about ten different buses leaving in the next hour and a half. So, he would have a hard time finding me. Ten buses, ten different locations to search for me in. It will give me time to get to my brother.
Twenty minutes later, the taxi dropped me off at the bus station. I tipped him to not tell anyone where he took me. But I know that Alejandro would pay more as a bribe. Hell, he would probably have people beat it out of him.
I knew there was a pay phone inside the bus station, so I headed inside to use that phone. I got to
the phone and stared at it. Then I moved to walk away. Fuck! Why is this so hard?
I get why Olivia struggled so much to tell anyone. I took a deep breath, before sighing heavily and
picking the phone up. I put some money in, and then dialed Mike’s number. Even though I rarely talk to any of them now, because of Alejandro, I still know all their numbers.
It rang and rang, and then cut off. I knew he had seen an unknown number so he cut it off. I tried again and again. Finally, he picked up on the first ring. His voice sounded even deeper, and
annoyed that this number kept calling him.
“Who is this?” he growled.
“Mike, Mike, it’s me. I need help,” I said.
“Katie, what’s wrong? Why aren’t you calling me from your phone number?” he asked, hearing the
worry in his voice.
I sobbed, “I left it behind… I left him. He… he…”
“Did he hurt you?” Mike growled.
“A lot,” I cried.
I heard something smashing on the other end of the phone. Then I heard Queenie’s voice, “Where
are you, right now?”
ow where that is. Listen to me, Katie, I can’t come to you, but Carnage and Mike will bring an army. You remember that diner we stopped at halfway between your house and the club, where we got those amazing nilkshakes. Get there, and you call me when you get there. I will make sure they know.” Queenie’s calming voice soothed me.
“I will be there in a couple of hours,” I said.
“I will tell Mike. I will hack the camera systems and screw with the footage. Don’t get on a bus. will hand you back to Mike,” Queenie said, before passing the phone back to Mike.
“We are leaving
www. I will bring Doc. Do you need money?” he asked.
“I have enough
cash for now. But I have left everything behind, my cards, my car, my phone, my clothes, everything,” I told him.
“He tracks them, doesn’t he?” Mike growled.
“Yes,” I whispered.
“Move and don’t look back. I love you, little sis. Now, move. I am on my way,” he said.

“I love you too, brother,” I sobbed.
“I will be there soon. Guys, we need to roll, let’s move,” Mike said, the phone cut off.
I put the phone down, and wiped my tears. Then I moved. I left the bus station and headed towards the long–stay car parking lot. The security guard wasn’t in his office, so I picked the lock and got inside. I broke the locker for the car keys, and pulled the keys to a Land Rover from it. There was only one Land Rover key in the locker, so that could only mean one Land Rover in the parking lot. It will be quicker to find.
I ran into the parking lot and had to duck behind some cars, to hide from the security guard. As soon as they passed by me, I moved deeper into the parking lot till I found the Land Rover. I jumped in and drove from the parking lot as quickly as I could. The security guard tried to run to the parking lot entrance upon hearing me leave in the car. But he was too late. I was gone.
It was going to take a couple of hours of driving before I got to the diner. Honestly, I was scared. I went from being so concentrated on getting out of there, to scared and upset. What will my brother think when he sees me?
I know I look an absolute fucking state. I have a busted lip, swollen and black eye, my other eye is blood shot, and my cheek is bruised. Not to mention the bruises you can’t see. I have horrible bruises on my thighs, some bruises to my neck and arms. My ribs aren’t much better. Nothing is broken thankfully, but I still remember how bad Queenie’s bruises looked, and I know mine aren’t

much better.
Two hours of driving past by surprisingly quickly. I ditched the Land Rover at a gas station a couple blocks away from the diner. Wiping down the stirring wheel and collecting my bag. Five minutes of walking, and I was at the diner. A bell rang out as soon as I opened the diner’s door. I kept my head low, not wanting people to stare at my bruised face. I went straight to their payphone, I promised I would call Queenie when I got here. So, I did that. She, of course, picked up on the first ring, “Katie, please tell me, that is you?”
“It’s me, Queenie. I made it,” I replied.
“Good. Aye, smart move jacking a car by the way. I watched the CCTV footage, you did well. I scrubbed it so don’t worry. CB is getting me an ETA on Mike and Carnage for you, so stay on the phone,” she said.
“Thank you, Queenie. I wish I had come to you all sooner,” I sighed.
“Don’t worry about that now. You have reached out for help now, and you are going to get it,” Queenie said.
“You know I understand why you hid what happened to you for so long,” I whispered.
“The guys are ten minutes out. Katie, I never wanted anyone to understand why. What happened to me, happened. I just wanted my life to get better, and it did. That is all you need to focus on now. For now, order a hot chocolate, and sit and wait for the guys to get there. We can talk more when you get here,” Queenie told me.
“Hot chocolate sounds nice. I will see you soon, Queenie,” I said, and put the phone down.
Queenie was right. What happened to me, happened. I do want my life to get better, and I need to focus on making that happen. A fresh start in the one place I should have never left, sounds like a good starting place for me.
