The Prime Minister's Darling novel Chapter 567

Chapter 567: 277 Want his life! (First update)_3

Gu Jiao took Gu Yan’s blood pressure, which had skyrocketed abnormally, likely due to some medication. If it didn’t decrease soon, they’d have to use hypotensive drugs.

Gu Yan had already lost consciousness, but his hand was still gripping Gu Changqing’s sleeve, a grip he had held onto since before he passed out. Gu Changqing didn’t remove his hand, instead, he simply stood by the bed in silence.

Soon, Gu Yan’s temperature began to rise as well.

Gu Jiao applied an ice pack on his forehead.

The difficulty with Gu Yan’s case was his heart disease, which prevented them from administering drugs recklessly. Therefore, unless absolutely necessary, Gu Jiao would opt for conservative treatment.

"How is he...?" Gu Changqing, watching the unconscious Gu Yan, asked in a husky voice.

Tweaking the drip tube slightly, Gu Jiao responded in a low voice, "It’s difficult to say at this stage."

One might think that a couple of sleeping pills wouldn’t amount to much, but for someone of his frailty, they could be lethal. Gu Yan had been taking medication to combat heart failure for a year. Otherwise, he would have already succumbed to the drug’s impact.

This situation reminded Gu Jiao of something.

When Xiao Liulang and Gu Changqing met with accidents, she could foresee them in her dreams. So why not Gu Yan’s problems?

She wasn’t sure if she could always predict Xiao Liulang and Gu Changqing’s mishaps in her dreams, but she certainly had before.

She had never had such dreams about Gu Yan, however.

It couldn’t be that Gu Yan was not close enough to her. She and Gu Yan were twins, embodying the closest, most intimate relationship in the world.

Could it be due to too much closeness?

Additionally, she noticed another thing. She couldn’t foresee her own dangers, as had happened during the music hall collapse or when she got trapped under the roof with her old aunt.

If she couldn’t predict her own fate, could it be because Gu Yan was her twin, and thus she couldn’t foresee his destiny either?

It seemed that Gu Yan’s secret guards must be called back to the Capital City.

Meanwhile, after being beaten by Gu Changqing, Tang Ming lost his joyous mood and returned to Tang Residence on horseback.

The Tang Residence was now the Marshal Residence, not the General Residence, and its gatehouse was much more impressive than before.

Before entering, Tang Ming stood before the two imposing stone lions, straightened his robe, dusted his sleeves, and ensured that no traces of his mischief were visible.

Tang Yueshan had just finished practicing swordsmanship in the courtyard. A servant handed him a towel, and he wiped the sweat off his forehead, panting, and asked, "Has Mingming returned yet?"

The servant replied, "No, my lord, not yet. He might be held back by official duties. Lately, many people have been coming to our residence to pay their respects. Since you refuse to see them, they have probably sought the young master instead."

The Tang family was split into two branches; Tang Yueshan was from the second branch. He had an elder brother and sister-in-law. Tang Ming was the legitimate son of the main branch.

Tang Yueshan’s elder brother had been incapacitated for a long time. However, he had not usurped the property of the main branch, allowing his elder brother to remain the head of the Tang family.

The Marshal Residence was next to the Tang’s, and to outsiders, they were still considered one family.

Tang Yueshan had no sons, only daughters. The whole household knew of his love for his nephew, Tang Ming, suspecting that Tang Ming would not only inherit the main branch’s property, but also Tang Yueshan’s power.

The servants of the Marshal Residence all treated Tang Ming as their young master, while his biological father was bedridden, unable to take care of him, and so, the task fell to his younger brother. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

Tang Ming had always admired his uncle and would happily reside with Tang Yueshan.

Speak of the devil.

As Tang Yueshan wiped his sweat, he saw Tang Ming approach with a smile, "Uncle! I’m back!"

A delighted expression quickly spread across Tang Yueshan’s stern face, "Why are you so late? Have military duties been keeping you too busy?"

Tang Ming smiled and replied, "What duties? You don’t like me mingling with those ministers, do you? I left early. The reason I returned late is that I went to buy your favorite Spicy and Fragrant Snails."

He said this as he took out the food box hidden behind him, "Uncle, look, isn’t this from the place you frequent?"

Tang Yueshan’s joy was apparent when he learnt of this. He opened the box and sniffed, replying satisfactorily, "Correct, this is the right smell!"

The servant commented with a smile, "The young master really knows how to honor you, my lord. None of us thought about that."

Tang Yueshan smiled with delight.

After the uncle and nephew finished their meal, Tang Ming went to the main room to bid his parents good health.

This was something that Tang Yueshan required Tang Ming to do every day, to show filial piety to his parents, and not disrespect his father just because he was bedridden.

Only when Tang Ming came back to his own room did he drop all pretenses.

He sat in the chair, lifted his shirt, and saw the bruise on his abdomen from where Gu Changqing had kicked him. He was so angry that he gritted his teeth until they made a cracking noise!

Then thinking of Gu Yan, he felt a bit of regret.

He reminisced, squinting his eyes.

Such a tempting beauty, he was just a bit away from getting him.

--

Gu Jiao and Gu Changqing kept vigil over Gu Yan all night.

He had a crisis in the middle of the night, and Gu Jiao administered some medicine to him.

As dawn approached, his body temperature returned to normal, but he still hadn’t regained consciousness.

Gu Jiao looked at the white belly of the fish on the horizon, then looked again at Gu Changqing who had kept a cold expression all night, saying, "His condition is better than it was at night, and his life is no longer in immediate danger, you should go and rest, I’ll stay here and look after him."

Gu Changqing paused for a moment, stood up, glanced at the unconscious Gu Yan, his eyes full of reluctance: "Alright, I will come back later."

When he reached the doorway, he paused again as he was about to step over the threshold, then turned back, his gaze falling on Gu Yan’s face, "He..."

"What’s wrong?" Gu Jiao asked.

Gu Changqing shook his head, "Never mind, it’s nothing."

Even if he had heard it, so what?

That was no longer important, the important thing was Tang Ming, he wanted Tang Ming’s life!
