The Primordial Record novel Chapter 1995

Chapter 1995: Ascension of Origin

"You all fight for stagnation... for the end of all things, how dare you claim to champion Origin when you have never known its light?" The words from Rowan hit the Primordials and even the Abomination like a wall of reality collapsing in their minds, and they flinched.

Rowan knew that his end was coming much quicker than he and Eos had initially planned, but this was the way of battle, and such unexpected changes were always bound to happen, although he was grateful that the change that did end up benefiting his main body.

He could feel his essence unraveling inside him, and his remaining hand holding the echo of the Destroyer trembled, but this was not because of pain or despair, but the sheer power that was flowing inside of him.

If he wanted, he could allow himself to explode, and this explosion would be so powerful that it would seriously hurt, if not kill one or two Primordials here, but the consequences of this would be severe and the possibility of harming his main body and killing all of the New Primordials in the distance was great, and an instinct in him knew that taking this path would do nothing but feed the power of end.

The explosion from an Origin Force at the fifth layer would ripple across Limbo, and it was unknown how much damage it would create to all the remaining life struggling in between the cracks of Existence. The power of uncontrolled destruction, no matter how pure its source, would only thicken the seemingly endless power of End.

Origin had been suppressed for so long that Rowan wanted to see how far he could push its growth before he died.

The fifth layer burned inside him like a star too bright for its shell. Prismatic blood leaked from his wounds in slow, luminous streams, each drop birthing tiny folds of space that lived for a heartbeat before winking out.

There were mysteries in these newly born layers of space that Rowan could not yet understand, but he sensed something from the core of Limbo, and he nearly smiled.

Existence was expanding very quickly, but this expansion was at a fixed speed; however, every time he bled into Existence, the expansion accelerated. This amount of acceleration could barely be noticed and was so minute it was almost nonexistent, and the only reason Rowan could detect these changes at all was that he was the Primordial of Space.

It was in these tiny movements that Rowan found inspiration, and he understood that he had been using Origin Power in a way that it was not meant to be used. In the lower layers, he could get away with it, but in its fifth layer, then any actions he took with Origin had intense consequences, and he was not just its champion, but also its teacher, and any path that it was shown in this moment would be the foundation of space for all eternity, or at least until there was someone else who would be able to understand space on a much more deeper level than him.

That thought to use the fifth layer of Origin as a weapon was potent, and Rowan knew that those thoughts were not just his own; they also contained the whispers of End. Rowan’s Origin was pure, but he had been growing in a reality where the power of End had taken over all of its foundations, and he had become tainted by its powers.

Raising up his hand that held the Destroyer, Rowan let go of it, and the blade dispersed before it even touched the ground. ’No, this is not the way. I will not let my final act be just another meal for End.’

Instead of erupting with all of that power, Rowan chose to channel it inside of his core. He decided to grow, even as he died.
