Eric was speechless.

“How about I treat you to some good food today?” he said. “Consider it my apology.”

Alice looked surprised.

“Huh? Mr. Eric, since when are you this easygoing?”

Eric nodded, his expression serious.

“The doctor–patient relationship needs to be handled with care. After all, giving it your all and just doing the bare minimum are very different things.”

Alice paused a little. “So this is still about the doctor–patient relationship?”

“Isn’t that the relationship you care about the most?” Eric replied, sounding a little helpless.

He did want to define their bond in another way, but he worried Alice wouldn’t agree.

So far, all he knew was that Alice had something important she needed to do.

For example, dealing with Julius, but he didn’t know her true goal.

So, as a good patient, the best choice was to stay “not fully healed” and protect his doctor at all costs.

Alice’s territorial instinct kicked in.

She stepped in front of Eric and spoke calmly.

“Are you a minor?”

Linda froze. “Huh?”

Alice asked again, “Can’t you buy a ticket with your ID?”

That question left Linda speechless.

Alice gave a short laugh. “Or do you have some terminal illness?”

Linda’s face fell. “If you don’t want to take me with you, just say so. Why humiliate me like this?”

Her eyes filled with tears as she looked at Eric.

“Eric, aren’t you going to say anything?”

Eric continued to wear a stone face; his voice was cold enough to freeze the air.

“My wife doesn’t have a sister.”

Linda was shocked. “What!”

His words hurt more than a blade stabbed to her heart.

Standing in front of her was a young man. He wore a black suit with a red tie. A luxury watch gleamed on his wrist. He was not stunningly handsome, but his face was easy on the eyes. There was a brown mole on his chin. Instead of ruining his appearance, it made him seem a little more mature.

“I’m sorry,” Linda said quickly. “I wasn’t paying attention.”

Behind the man stood more than a dozen bodyguards. Their faces were hard and watchful, their presence heavy and intimidating.

Luckily, Linda was used to dealing with powerful people. She often spent time with her brothers, so she managed to stay calm.
