Chapter 387 Missing Chance
Irene let out a cold snort.
Many people were willing to do Eric a favor and help get him released.
Irene had already made her call; she told the police to handle everything by the book.
Josh nodded.
“As long as he doesn’t get out tonight, we get to call the shots about this.”
Cheryl held a cup of tea.
Sidney brought over a plate of fruit.
The whole family looked warm and happy.
The grandchildren laughed and chatted nearby.
Irene was pleased.
But worry slowly appeared on Cheryl’s face.
“Irene, what if Eric finds out this was us?”
“Haha, so what?” Irene said flatly.
She no longer wanted to keep up a fake peace with Eric.
“When you were locked up, I asked him again and again to help,” she said.
“What did he do? He acted high and mighty. I lowered myself and begged him as an elder.
“And still, he only listened to that bitch.”
She sighed.
“You’ve suffered enough. This time, consider this my way to stand up for you.”
Josh’s eyes glistened with tears.

“Mom, honestly, none of that matters. Before this, Eric kept telling everyone that you didn’t want to see us,” he said. “That really
hurt me.”
The grown man wiped his tears openly.
“If the police weren’t so strict, I–I might’ve killed myself.”
Josh’s show of misery broke Irene’s heart.
She had worked so hard to bring her sons back.

How could she not care about them?
Eric opposing her was one thing, but wounding her heart was another.
If she hadn’t gone to bring the children home herself, this family would have fallen apart.
She was already in her late seventies; did she really deserve to witness them going against each other?
Eric had gone too far.
She had once felt some affection for Eric, but there was nothing left now.
“Enough,” Irene said. “You’re a grown man. Stop crying. From today on, I’ll find a way to get you back into the Nolan Group.”
Josh and Matt were overjoyed.
If that really happened, they would have a chance to rise again.
At the Spencer residence, Maria looked at her sons and asked for their thoughts.
Scott didn’t want to be involved; he picked up his car keys and left.
He had already contacted many friends to try to help Alice.
Their influence wasn’t strong enough, so he decided to wait outside the police station himself.
The remaining four stayed silent.
Their silence meant they had chosen not to interfere.
Maria felt very unhappy with Scott.
Alice clearly didn’t want to be part of this family.
So why should they help her?
She should face the harsh reality. Only then would she learn that, without family backing, she was nothing.
When Alice finally came begging at their door, Maria would reluctantly accept her as a daughter.
By then, Alice’s strange pride would be crushed.
A perfect outcome.
They had no idea that, they had just lost their last chance to ever win Alice back.
Inside the police station, Alice found a small chip hidden among the body remains.
It had been implanted deep inside the body.

Nydia couldn’t bring herself to cut into her lover’s body, so she never discovered the chip.
Alice had no such burden.
She went to meet Eric and immediately noticed the dark circles under his eyes. It looked like he hadn’t slept all night.
Her face darkened at once.
She turned sharply to Lonnie.
Lonnie looked embarrassed; he had promised to take good care of Eric.
After Eric noticed Alice’s even worse dark circles, the fierceness in him felt almost frightening.
Lonnie wished the floor would open up and swallow him.
