Nina’s mind went completely blank out of nervousness. Right then, Jensen reached out and covered her hand resting on the steering wheel.
“Keep your eyes straight ahead and drive by instinct. No one dares crash into you.”
“But what if something goes wrong…”
“It’s fine even if the car gets damaged. I’ve got full insurance coverage on it.”
That was hardly the point of the problem.
Still, his words gradually calmed her nerves and gave her courage. She slowly stepped on the gas and picked up speed.
“Just pretend you’re back at the driving school and I’m your instructor. You can go faster if you want. I can always yank the emergency brake.”
“But you don’t have one right now!”
“Just imagine I do.”
Nina had no idea where he got such odd logic, yet she followed his advice anyway.

before she even got fully used to the feel of the wheel, they had already pulled up
“Are we here already?” she
“We are.”
Jensen pushed open his car door. Nina unfastened her seat belt and stepped out, feeling all the tension drain right out of her body
“Sir, your reserved meals are all ready. Shall we serve them now?” the waiter asked politely.
“Yes.”
The waiter led them inside. Nina instantly took a liking to their window-side table.
The two sat down, and fancy dishes were soon served one after another. Staring at the delicate dishes laid out before her. Mi spoke playfully, “You really don’t hold back at all, picking nothing but the priciest dishes.”
“It’s nothing much,” Jensen replied calmly. “I’ve helped you secure the cooperation project with The T Company. One dinner least you owe me, even ten meals wouldn’t be too much.”
“Alright alright, I can definitely afford this much at least.” She mumbled silently that she might not be able to fout anés bill though.
Jensen seldom talked while eating. Watching him sitting there neatly dressed in a tagored suit and tie, Nina could barely link this poised man with the quiet, reserved boy she had known back in high school
As time went by, he had even grown a little sharp-tongued. He had matured greatly, towering tar tatter that he used (a bown broader, firmer shoulders.

Noticing her constant gaze, Jensen looked up.
“Focus on your own food.”
“Jensen, what exactly are you aiming to achieve by staying in Linholt?” Nina asked earnestly.
She clearly remembered that in her past life, he had never come to work at the city branch, let alone settled down here for su long time.
“I’m just here to sort out branch company affairs. I’ll probably leave in a few days.”
“Never come back again?”
Jensen set down his knife and fork and glanced at her. “Do you hope I’ll stay away for good?”
“That’s not what I meant at all.”
In truth, having him around in Linholt was a huge help for her dealings with The T Company, so she actually wished he could sta longer. Besides, he had never gotten along well with Chase, in both her past and present lives.
“There’s no need to rush things. I might head back soon enough.”
“Are you going back to get married?”
This casual question made Jensen lift his eyes once more, his look plainly saying she ought to watch what she said.
“I’m genuinely curious what kind of lady Ms. Beaumont is, the one who finally managed to melt your icy heart.”
“Finished rambling? If you’re done talking, I’d like to eat in peace.”
He obviously had no intention of continuing this topic, leaving Nina feeling awkward as she quietly went back to her meal
Before long, Jensen’s phone started ringing again. It was another unfamiliar number. He merely glanced at the screen then hung up instantly, and this time he even turned his whole phone off directly.
Nina felt utterly confused seeing this happen for the second time that day.
Could it be that he owes someone a large sum of money outside? That seems far too unlikely.
“Is it some secret lover calling you?” She could only think of this possibility.
