Julian snatched Jacob’s phone right away and booked a flight ticket without hesitation. Linholt was fully under Jensen’s control now, and he knew Audrey would surely stir up huge trouble once she got there.
Over at the Tann Villa, Nina helped Marvin get settled back home. Esther sighed and spoke her mind. “Honey, Sam is getting on in years. Maybe we should hire a new driver. We can give him a nice pension and let him retire early without any losses.”
“Sam has stayed by my side for most of my life. I trust his driving skills completely. This was nothing more than a pure accident,” Marvin sank down onto the living room sofa and turned to look at his daughter. “Nina, did you run into some trouble or make enemies during your stay in Halmont?”
Nina froze for a moment. Unlike her mother, Marvin had stayed in the business circle for decades and was far more sharp-sighted. He would never simply take the incident as a mere accident.
“Dad, who could I possibly offend? I was sent back by Jensen less than two days after I arrived. Do you really think this crash was done on purpose?”
Marvin stared at his seemingly innocent daughter and fell into silence. Esther quickly chimed in to ease the tension. “You’re just overthinking things as you grow older. This isn’t some dramatic business rivalry drama on TV. It was just a plain traffic accident. We’ve never wronged anyone, so don’t dwell on it too much.”
“I truly hope that’s all it is.” Marvin dropped the topic and said no more.
Yet Nina’s heart remained heavy with worry. She would never allow her family to get tangled up in any danger, and this whole matter had to be settled as soon as possible.
Her phone buzzed
uddenly. Seeing the message was from Jensen, she slipped the device away quickly and spoke to her parents, “Mom, Dad, Caleb is calling me out. I need to head
out now.”
“Go on then, and be sure to come back early,” Esther replied casually.
Nina left the house right after. She spotted Jensen’s car already parked right outside the gate.

“I want to take you somewhere to see things for yourself,” Jensen said as he opened the car door and gestured for her to get in.
Nina sat in the passenger seat. “This was all arranged by the Beaumont family, wasn’t it?”
Jensen nodded slightly.
She had guessed it right. No matter how scheming Ruth was, she could never reach out and plot such things far away. Now that Jensen held full power over the Grey family, only Julian had the motive and ability to do this.
“Where exactly are you taking me now?”
“To the local police station,” Jensen spoke in a steady tone. “If you want, I have ways to press formal charges against Julian.”
“What good will that do?” Nina let out a helpless sigh. “He has endless wealth and powerful connections. He can easily pin everything on someone else any time he wants, and there are plenty of people willing to take the blame for him.”
The penalty for intentional bodily harm was never too severe. Most people would gladly serve a short sentence in exchange for a large sum of money.
Jensen glanced at her as he drove, noticing her gaze fixed outside the window. “If you don’t want to settle this through official channels, we can handle it privately instead.”
They soon arrived at the police station. Jensen had already made prior arrangements with the officers there. A police officer led them straight inside. The culprit who had caused the deliberate crash had been locked inside the interrogation room for an entire day.
Clenching her fists tightly, Nina stared at the man who had hurt her father. He looked just like a reckless ruffian. He kept claiming he had simply gotten too drunk and lost control of his vehicle, refusing to admit anything about the sudden large sum of money deposited into his account.
“Julian picked him
knows he wo out on purpose,” Jensen explained calmly. “This man was drowning in
heavy debts. Julian paid off all his debts for him, and in return, he staged this car crash. He knows he won’t stay locked up for long, so 300 thousand dollars is more than enough to tempt him.”
“Three hundred thousand dollars…” Nina never thought Julian would be so generous with money, just to hurt her family.

This time it was a car accident, and she dared not imagine what cruel scheme he would come up with next.
“My parents have always treated you sincerely and kindly,” Nina said softly. “I don’t want them to get dragged into all these conflicts.”
