The Rejected True Heiress (Liora and Callum) novel Chapter 210

Liora’s POV

Mr. Alder unplugged the speaker, casting the room into silence. The students who had been dancing suddenly froze, muttering amongst themselves in confusion. Everyone turned to the principal, still holding plates of food and red plastic cups. Mr. Alder stood there with the cord to the speaker clutched in his hands.

“Having a feast, are we?” he asked, looking around.

Bianca took a step forward, grinning haughtily. “My father sent us a meal so we could celebrate for the equinox. Would you like a plate, Mr. Alder? He sent roast hams, potatoes, vegetables, fresh bread… There’s even wine! Everything was freshly prepared by the royal kitchens tonight.”

The principal stared at her in shock like each word had been a bullet to the chest. “Absolutely not,” he said, his tone cold and low. “And you should all be ashamed of yourselves for what you have done.”

“What do you mean?” Bianca straightened. I pushed away from the wall, confused. My heart began to pound for reasons I didn’t yet understand.

For a long moment, the principal said nothing—he just looked around at all of us. The anger in his eyes was palpable. Not that I had ever seen the man crack a smile that wasn’t made of pure evil and hatred before, but this was different. Angrier. Sadder.

“Thanks to your selfish and reckless desire for a holiday meal,” he said, “a student was killed tonight.”

A gasp rippled across the room. Beside me, Callum went completely rigid. “What?” he blurted out. “Who?”

Mr. Alder whipped his head toward us. “Miss Julie Palmer. I believe you all lovingly referred to her as ‘freckles’.”
