Callum’s POV

No one was in the mood to finish the solstice feast after that. I couldn’t blame them.

A student was dead.

Julie Palmer. Dead. Torn apart by rogues with eight pizza boxes in her possession.

The worst part was the fact that the rogues didn’t even take the food. They weren’t starving. They just wanted to kill an innocent girl.

I looked at Bianca, studying her expression. I had seen the way she pinched her other friend’s back. The way he stumbled forward, confused and afraid. No one believed him when he said he wasn’t the one to send Julie on that mission. The principal certainly didn’t.

But as I watched Bianca, a small voice in the back of my mind—not just my wolf this time, but something else, something deeper—whispered that there was more to this than met the eye.

Had Bianca really been the one to send Julie out for pizzas? Had she been the cause of her so-called “friend’s” death? And was she really now going to let another student take the blame, while she stood there, silent?

The other students were filtering out of the room by now, too depressed to linger. I looked at Liora, but she didn’t look at me. Her face was beet red, seething, her eyes fixed on Bianca.

I wondered if she was having the same thoughts I was.

I thought back to those moments when the feast had arrived. Liora almost seemed to expect it. She insisted that she had nothing to do with it, but… I didn’t believe her to begin with. I especially didn’t believe her now.

Before I could say anything, Liora left, brushing past Bianca so hard that her shoulder slammed into Bianca’s. Bianca gasped, whirling around.

“Hey!” she hissed, but Liora didn’t stop. She took Mia’s hand and stormed out. Zane stared at me, his gaze flicking between me and Bianca for a moment, before he followed them.

Now, it was just me and Bianca. I took a step closer, and the proximity between us made my wolf growl angrily.
