Liora’s POV
Bianca froze when I suggested hosting a party at the palace. When I glanced over my shoulder, I could see the gears turning in her head. Perfect. The seeds had been planted. Now, she just needed to water them.
There was no way she would turn down the opportunity to show off, especially not since everyone in the vicinity had overheard my suggestion.
“A party?” another student, having overheard just like I suspected, asked. “Bianca, is it true? Are we really gonna go to the palace?”
“I’ve always wanted to visit the royal palace!” a girl said with a grin. “Is it true that you have fifteen fountains?”
Sixteen, actually.
Bianca’s face paled slightly. I bit back the urge to smirk and simply watched, waiting to see her response. If she agreed, then she would have to find access to the palace, where she would be immediately humiliated by the staff. If she refused, then everyone would be disappointed in her.
Either way, I would win.
“I… Um… I’d have to talk to my father,” she said slowly. “But I’ll see if I can…”
“Please!” another student begged. “Please please please! It sounds so fun!”
By the time I walked away, Bianca’s face was completely drained of color.
Good. I hoped she took the bait. Then, if we made it to the palace—my home—everyone would see just how little influence she had. She wouldn’t get away with her facade for much longer.
Everyone would know that she wasn’t the princess she claimed to be.
“Was this your idea, then?”
“Something like that.”
Marcus was quiet for a moment before he responded, “Look, I’m not telling you what to do, but your father might not be happy about this. You might want to reconsider before getting involved in petty drama with a girl like that.”
My jaw clenched. Marcus was right, of course. And I had promised my father that I would stay out of petty arguments.
But this wasn’t petty. Bianca had tried to get me killed. On purpose.
I was tired of her schemes. Even if I didn’t reveal my true identity this weekend, hers would definitely be discovered. There was no way people would still think she was the real princess once she went to the palace and faced cold shoulders and ridicule from the staff.
