Liora’s POV
For a long time, I just stood there with the tray still in my hands. I couldn’t even bring myself to drop it. I was just frozen, my mouth hanging open, staring at Callum like an idiot while the murmurs of the students behind me turned into a distant echo beneath the sound of the blood rushing through my ears.
They had slept together. Or so it certainly seemed. The scene was set, and it was very clear—Callum shirtless, Bianca in her lacy bra and panties, the smug little smile on her face when she took that strawberry, and now, the way Callum was looking at me.
But I had to know for certain. I refused to let myself crumble until I did.
Finally, I managed to squeak out five words.
“Did you sleep with her?”
Callum’s jaw worked silently for a few moments. He looked down at his hands, then back up at me. “Liora—”
“Did you or did you not?”
He didn’t answer right away, which was all the answer I needed.
The room began to tilt around me all of a sudden.
This morning, I had stood in the common room kitchen making waffles and cutting strawberries, telling myself that today was the day I was finally going to do the right thing. That I was going to walk into this room and tell Callum the truth, and that whatever happened after that, at least it would be honest. At least we would have that.
I had even put chocolate chips in the waffles.
Gods, I was such an idiot.
“How could you do this to me?” I bit out.
Callum looked at me sharply. “Excuse me?”
“We just had two dates, Callum. Two, with a promise of a third. And last night you kissed me—”
