“Sorry,” I said, turning toward him, “your name slipped my mind.”
He chuckled. “Andrew.”
“Andrew.” I nodded and looked around. “Enjoying the party?”
He shrugged, glancing at me. “You look like you’re having the time of your life over here,” he said.
I laughed despite myself. “Is it that obvious?”
“Little bit.” His eyes dropped to my shirt. “I like your shirt.”
I looked down. It was just a black tank top, but it showed off my cleavage. I wanted to say something snarky to get him to go away, but then I hesitated. I looked around at the other students at the party. Dancing together, flirting, enjoying themselves.
All things I hadn’t truly let myself do since… Well, since forever.
So for once, I didn’t cover myself or say something rude. I didn’t smile, but I thanked him and sipped my drink.
Andrew sipped his, too, and studied me over the rim of his red cup. Then, he tilted his head toward the dance floor. “Dance with me?”
“Sure,” I said, pushing away from the wall. Because fuck it, that’s why.
I let Andrew lead me onto the dance floor, which was even more packed now than when I had come in. Bodies were rubbing against bodies. The air smelled like sweat and perfume. A few nearby couples were already making out, and a group of girls was hooting and hollering as one girl got in the middle of their circle and shook her ass.
Andrew pulled me close right away, his hand on my hip. I shuddered a little and reached down to move his hand to a more appropriate spot, but then I saw him.
Callum.
Those steely eyes met mine from across the room like they had magnets in them. He was standing near the sofas with his friends, drink in hand, staring directly at me. His gaze went to Andrew. Then to the point of contact where his hand met my hip.
The jealousy was all too obvious.
