“Fuck off.”

Bianca laughed. “There’s that fire I’ve been missing.” She straightened and looked down at my tray. “Are you going to eat that?”

Before I could respond, she reached down and plucked the apple off my plate. She took a bite, juice running down her chin, and smiled.

“Delicious,” she said.

I snapped.

For the first time in a long time, I felt it—a flicker of heat in my chest, spreading through my limbs. My wolf, stirring just beneath the surface. Barely there, but present. Angry and indignant.

I shot to my feet so fast my chair scraped loudly against the floor, echoing through the noisy cafeteria. Bianca’s eyes widened a little, just for a moment, then narrowed as if with amusement.

“Give it back,” I hissed.

“Or what?” she asked, raising the apple to take another bite.

I lunged.

My fist pulled back, aiming for her smug face. I didn’t care that we were in the middle of the dining hall. I didn’t care that everyone was watching now or that Amy had shot up from her seat and shouted something or that I was about to hit the so-called heir t othe kingdom. All I cared about was knocking that tacky fucking tiara off her head.

But I didn’t get the chance.

A hand grabbed my wrist mid-swing, yanking me backward before my fist could meet Bianca’s face. Daisy, like a force of nature, spun me around and slammed me against the nearest wall. My back hit the stone hard enough to knock the air from my lungs. Her hand found my throat and squeezed, pinning me in place.

I clawed at her arm, but, like always, it was useless. Her eyes were blank again, black and empty, and her lips were pulled back in a snarl.

The dining hall had gone completely silent. I could feel everyone watching, but no one moved to help. Of course they didn’t. Why would they? I was the disgraced former princess. The liar. The manipulator. Amy was the only one who ran out to get help. Help that likely wouldn’t come in time, if at all.
