“I’m going to make Bianca think she has a chance of winning me over,” I said. Zane gawked at me, and I went on “I’ll make her think that if she proves herself, I might consider getting back together with her.”
“Are you out of your mind?” Zane hissed. “Liora’s already going through enough right now! If you make her think you’re running back to Bianca—”
“It’s the only way,” I cut him off. “Bianca wants me. She has always wanted me. If I dangle that in front of her, she’ll do whatever it takes to prove she’s worthy.”
Zane looked at me for a long moment. When he seemed to realize that I had made up my mind, he huffed and said, “Have you told Liora about this plan of yours?”
“No. And you’re not going to, either.”
“Why the hell not?” Zane blurted out.
“Because she’ll try to talk me out of it,” I said. “She’ll say it’s too dangerous for both of us. But I’m doing it anyway.”
Zane shook his head. “This is a terrible plan.”
“Have you got a better idea?”
He opened his mouth, but hesitated. After a moment, he shut it again. “No. I don’t.” He stood and headed for the door, then paused. “For what it’s worth, though, I think you’re an idiot. Not just for this, but for breaking up with Liora.”
He left before I could respond.
Finding Bianca wasn’t hard. She was in her usual spot near the quad, surrounded by her little gang of cronies. When she saw me approaching, her face lit up.
“Callum,” she said, standing. “What a pleasant surprise.”
Her goons scattered at a wave of her hand, giving us space. I stopped a few feet away from her and shoved my hands in my pockets.
“We need to talk,” I said.
