His face crumpled, but he blinked the tears back. He tucked my hand into the crook of his elbow, cleared his throat, and led me out of the room.

My bouquet was made entirely of white roses, cut that morning from the garden where he’d said yes all those months ago. As we stood in front of the grand double doors, the trumpets started, and I exchanged a final look with my father.

One tear slipped free, sliding down my cheek. My father chuckled and quickly dabbed it away with his handkerchief before it could leave a track in the makeup.

The doors opened onto sunlight. Gold and white hung from every column. The hall was packed, the far doors open wide so the crowd in the courtyard could hear. Faces turned in waves as we passed. Marcus stood at the front in his dress uniform, his jaw set hard but his eye shimmering. Zane waited beside the dais, grinning, finally grinning. The wolfless filled two entire rows in the front, Amy seated at the end.

As for Callum, the stylists had put him in the same white and gold as me and my father, but he’d opted for a dark tie that stood out amongst all the white. A small symbol of where he came from, he said. A reminder. None of us had argued.

The moment he saw me, his eyes went wide, brows shooting up. I felt the bond hum to life, felt his pulse stop then start again, felt the relief and joy and love—all of it.

“Magnificent,” his voice echoed through the bond.

The ceremony itself went all too quickly. We said vows that I hardly heard over the murmur of the crowd and the hum of my pulse in my ears. We clasped our hands and the priest, the same one who had nervously officiated the unwanted ceremony with Ambrose three months ago, bound our hands with colored ropes.

We kissed, and the crowd cheered, and when we broke apart, Callum was smiling at me. He pressed his forehead to mine and breathed me in for a moment as the officiant reached for the pillow containing the crown.

“Are you ready?” Callum whispered.
