The Return of Special Forces Queen novel Chapter 35

The mockery on Yolande's face only deepened. "Ha! How is that not taking her side? Her, flying a plane? You're not just insulting me, you're insulting every professional pilot out there!"

Carter choked on his words. If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he wouldn't have believed it either.

"I just..."

"Enough. I don't want to hear another word!" Yolande's face darkened, completely unwilling to listen to him defend Jocelyn.

Carter pressed his lips together and dropped the subject.

On the screen, the Zivko Edge 540 that Jocelyn was piloting continued to execute a flawless series of highly difficult aerial maneuvers. The moves were so breathtaking that the live commentator couldn't stop gasping in awe.

The announcer explicitly stated that whoever was flying had to be an elite, veteran pilot to pull off such a stunning performance.

Watching Carter stare at the screen with such intense focus, a flash of deep displeasure crossed Yolande's eyes.

If she hadn't gotten injured, she would be out there performing today. All those amazed eyes would have been on her!

After all, she was Stratus Air's first female captain!

If it weren't for that riding accident... Just the thought of how she had been thrown off the horse, only for Jocelyn to step in, tame the wild beast, and steal all the glory, made her stomach twist with nausea.

It felt as though she had been nothing more than a stepping stone for Jocelyn that day!

But that woman was entirely too arrogant. Did she honestly think that just because she could ride a horse, flying a plane would be a walk in the park?

It was pathetically foolish!

One day, she would make Jocelyn realize exactly how vast the gap between them truly was.

After the flight exhibition ended, Lana had more business to discuss, so Jocelyn left the expo early.

As she walked out of the venue, a sleek black Maybach rolled up and stopped smoothly right in front of her.

She instantly recognized the car!

It was Edgar's!

Hearing this, Jocelyn immediately realized he had looked into her military background.

"You flatter me."

After that, the cabin descended into a heavy silence.

Edgar was leafing through a book, and Jocelyn's eyes couldn't help but drift to his hands.

They were gorgeous, immaculate hands—like those of an artist.

Yet, at the same time, they looked like hands intimately acquainted with violence. Based on the way he had held the gun back at the restaurant, there was no doubt he was a lethal marksman.

As she was lost in thought, the man's cool voice broke the quiet.

"You've been staring at my hands for quite some time. If you like them that much, do you want me to leave them to you in the future?"

"Cough!" Jocelyn nearly choked on her own saliva. "No, thank you. I... I was just curious about what book you were reading."

Edgar tilted the cover so she could see it. *The Avian Manuscripts*.
