Ares
“Get the fuck out of here!”

He shoved me hard, his glare so vicious I wondered what I had done to deserve such absolute contempt.
Oh, right.
The allegation that I beat his sister.
“She is still my wife, Eshan,” I snapped back, rage clawing up my throat. “And I have the right to see her.”
He lunged again but a voice cut through the tension.
“Eshan?”
That voice. That presence.
Rocco Frost stood a few steps away from the private entrance.
The hospital was owned by his fiancée’s mother. This place belonged to them. I was nothing but an unwanted guest.
He said nothing. He didn’t need to.
His gaze slid from me to the security guards, and with a single nod, he gave a silent command.
The guards turned to me with open contempt.
I knew then no matter what, I wasn’t getting in without a fight.
Jaw tight, I turned back to my car, forcing myself to breathe through the tremor in my hands.
Hours had passed since Snow was found.
Eshan’s team had moved fast. Those prosecutors had connections everywhere. Tracking devices. Digital footprints. They found her.
They handled everything without me. Retrieved her. Admitted her privately. Locked me out, and now they wouldn’t even let me see her.
Even after I panicked with them.
Power–abusing bastards.
I slumped into the driver’s seat, thoughts spiraling.
Who ordered Snow’s abduction?
Feroz?

No.
Wait.
Viviana?
My chest tightened.
I grabbed my phone and dialed Neils. He answered at the very last ring.
“I told you it wasn’t my fault Marlik Rogue was released, Feroz,” he snapped, already mid–rant. “The ball is in your court now. Do whatever you have to do before H.O.W.L reopens the Lins Krates case…”
“It’s Ares.”
Silence.
Then a groan.
“Why are you calling so late?” he asked sharply. “If you want your sister to know her husband works with a drug lord, how about you call her yourself?”
I dragged a hand through my hair.
“What’s wrong?” he asked. “Feroz giving you trouble?”
“Not exactly,” I replied. “Marlik is out. Eshan swore he’ll handle the Lins murder case himself. If the director of H.O.W.L approves reopening it, we’re finished.”
Neils exhaled slowly.
“You think Feroz will take care of it?”
“Yes,” he replied without hesitation. “Even if he has to kill the H.O.W.L director or Eshan’s girlfriend It’s simple…”
“Or Eshan’s sister?” I cut in.
Silence slammed into the line.
“Did Feroz order the hit on Snow to stop Eshan from pursuing the case?” I demanded. “She was kidnapped today outside H.O.W.L. She barely escaped. She’s in the hospital right now. Was that Feroz?!”
A low hiss came through the phone.
“You think Feroz’s men would abduct someone and let her escape?” Neils said coldly. “They’re professionals. They don’t miss. They don’t fail.”
My stomach dropped.
“You and I both know Snow has another enemy,” he continued. “Viviana. I got the memo that she’s arriving tonight. You’re picking her up, aren’t you?”

The possibility settled like poison.
The more I tried to deny it, the more it made sense.
“They won’t let me see her,” I said hoarsely. “The Frosts. They won’t let me see Snow. I don’t know what to do, Neils. Help me.”
For the first time, my voice cracked.
“Divorce is one thing, Ares,” Neils said calmly. “Separation is another. In both human and werewolf law, you are still married.”
I stilled.
“Rocco only ordered a separation,” he continued. “A full month must pass before it becomes final. It’s only been about a week.”
My heart pounded.
“Which means,” Neils said firmly, “legally, Snowflakes Frost is still your wife. If her brothers block you, we sue them. You have every right to see her.”
The call ended.
I sat there, breath shallow, realization crashing over me.
He was right.
