He disconnected, and I lowered the phone with a shaky sigh. I turned to look at Dove, who stood by the window, staring out into the night.

“Your brother is outside, Snow,” she said.

I walked over to stand beside her and looked out as well. Outside the pack gates, under the dim night sky, Kashi’s car was parked. I went still.

My father had just called, and from the tone of his voice, I knew I had no choice. I had to return home. I had to face the fear and anxiety that came with Viviana’s presence.

Dove turned to look at me, studying my face. She could tell I wasn’t well today, and she knew it definitely wasn’t cramps.

“Should I walk you downstairs?” she asked.

Instead of answering, I raised an eyebrow and walked back to flop onto her bed.

“I don’t even know where to start,” I muttered. “I don’t want to be in the same space as Viviana.”

She watched me with understanding, but I could tell she sensed something deeper.

“Aside from the incident where your grandma gifted you a key that grants one wish from the Moon Goddess and Viviana threw a fit, what else did she do to make you hate being around her this much?”

The question landed hard. I looked at Dove only briefly. I knew if I held her gaze any longer, she’d see straight through me.

I shook my head, dismissing it, and stood up with a sigh.

“I’ll be on my way. Let me say goodbye to Mother first.”

I walked out of her bedroom before she could press further and went to exchange pleasantries with Mrs.

Mane.

The triplets were already asleep, and I couldn’t ask for more than that. As lovely as they were, they were also incredibly troublesome.

“You should pass my appreciation to your father and brothers, Snow,” Mrs. Mane said as she walked me back to the living room. “The monthly payment has been steady. In fact, I received a message from your father. He said we’ll be invited to a Thanksgiving party at your patio. Is that true?”

Dove was waiting in the king room. She walked me out of the pack to Kashi’s car and bowed politely in greeting. Kashi nodded back and asked her to go inside so he could watch her safely.

After she left, Kashi got into the car, and we drove off.

The ride was quiet, awkward, even. I leaned back in my seat, watching the passing cars and the night sky through the window. The wind felt calm, and for a moment, I started to feel peaceful.

Kashi finally parked in front of the house, and I let out a shaky breath. We both got out without speaking. My eyes immediately landed on the car in the garage.

Luxurious. New model. Sparkling under the night sky. I already know who owns it. Viviana Mooncrest.

I swallowed.

I followed Kashi inside, and there they were, all seated, waiting. My father. Viviana and my other brothers.

My heart lurched painfully into my throat as I stepped forward to greet them.

Instead, my dad pulled me into a hug and guided me to sit beside him, his palm resting warmly over mine.

“You’re back, Dad,” I said softly. He smiled and nodded, studying my face. “Goodness, you look pale. They haven’t been feeding you well on the trip.”

“Oh, will you compare that to home?” he joked.

I smiled, nodding, and the mood lightened briefly.

“You, on the other hand, look worn out,” he continued. “Crescent Pack must have worked you hard.”

‘Don’t even get me started,” I replied. “I still think Alpha Crescent should be doing more for his people.”

Roc scoffed.

“It’s only a matter of time before that pack goes rogue. The Alpha’s caught up in controversy and still on trial. He can’t do much right now.”

I nodded in agreement, and silence followed. With it came tension.

I kept my eyes down, avoiding Viviana. Finally, my father spoke again, his voice gentler.

“I heard what happened, Snow. I’ve spoken to your brothers too. Sending you away to the guest room wasn’t the right solution.”

A lump rose in my throat.

“You’ll return to your bedroom,” he continued, “and Viviana will…”

Viviana’s jaw tightened as she shifted into victim mode.

“So you’re taking her side.”

“I’m not taking sides,” Roc replied coldly. “I told you to sit. You don’t stand over my father and speak to him like that.”

Tears welled in her eyes, but she obeyed, muttering under her breath.

“So I’m the rude one now?” she said bitterly. “Father told me the last time she came to the Pack, she walke out on everyone.”

I lowered my gaze. I hated how this was unfolding.
