Chapter 526
Snowflakes
“Do you speak to Viviana? Do you like her? Did you laugh with her? Do you prefer her over me? Hmm?”
The questions tumbled out of me all at once, my heart racing with the raw tension of waiting for his answer. He only stared, as though I’d lost my mind completely.
He looked utterly lost, unable to pinpoint why I was so frantic, so unsteady.
But I knew exactly where the hurt stemmed from. I knew Viviana and I knew the trautna she’d inflicted on
She had swept in like a storm, claiming my bedroom without remorse, and she hadn’t stopped there.
Now she was circling Cupid. Yesterday morning she’d left the house with that triumphant smile, bold and glowing, and the emptiness had gnawed at me ever since.
All I could think about after leaving the dining table was What if Cupid gave her his attention? Would Viviana win again?
It was chaotic, agonizing, that I couldn’t confess to my human family what she’d done to me four years. ago. She’d taken enough of those I loved. But not Cupid. Not this man standing before me.
I searched his eyes, desperate for an answer, but he took his time, drawing out the silence until it hollowed
me out.
“Cupid…”
“Are you in heat?” His voice finally came, low and surprising.
I frowned, shaking my head. Heat was the monthly cycle werewolves endured, driving them wild with need. Was he calling me crazy?
Anger flared, replacing my vulnerability. I tried to pull away, but he answered quietly before I could.
“It’s you I want.”
I froze at the confession, heart hammering as I looked up at him again, praying I’d heard right.
“She had business with Yenda, not rne. And even if some modeling job forced us together, I’d never prefer her over you. That’s… insane.”
I swallowed, trembling at his words. I hadn’t realized how desperately I needed to hear them until they spilled out.
“Truly?” I whispered, needing certainty.
“Truly.”
I didn’t hesitate. I leaned into him, resting my head against his chest. Cupid kissed my hair and wrapped

his arms around me more tenderly, hands settling at my waist.
I breathed him in, his cologne, that fresh, intoxicating scent. Moon goddess, how I’d missed him.
Slowly, I pulled back just enough to gaze up at him. My heart thudded with fierce possessiveness. I couldn’t explain the sudden territorial surge, but I knew one thing. I wanted himn entirely to myself.
I cupped his cheek gently and rose on tiptoe to claim his lips. A thrill shot down my spine the moment they met mine. I parted for him, and he deepened the kiss, slow and consuming.
We poured everything into it, how much we’d missed each other, how our bodies ached for the closeness we’d denied ourselves.
My hands slid to his chest, fingers itching to feel his bare skin, to explore every inch.
Reason blurred as the kiss intensified. I fumbled with his shirt buttons, undoing the top three before he gently caught my hands in his.
He broke the kiss, searching my eyes. I trembled under the wave of desire crashing over me, helpless and shaking.
“I… need you so much,” I breathed against his lips.
He studied me a moment longer before murmuring, “I know. It’s written all over your face.”
I sighed and leaned in again, hungrier this time, forgetting where we were, until he eased back, holding my arms with tender restraint.
“Slow down…”
I shook my head, unable to comply. He pulled farther away, grounding me. Confusion flickered in his
eyes.
“Are you sure you’re not in heat?”
I shook my head firmly.
“I’m… just on my period. You know I don’t have a wolf yet.”
He paused, gaze traveling from my face down my body and back again. Then a heavy sigh escaped him.
“You’re definitely in heat. I should’ve realized from those texts.”
He closed the distance again, this time cradling me like something fragile. His forehead rested against mine, and I stared up at him, heart stuttering under that protective, pampering gaze.
“How do you feel?” he asked softly. “Hmm? Jealous? Desperate? Fixated on one thing?”
I bit my lower lip, trying to deny it.
