Chapter 644
Showflakes
Wrinks and Zayah stared at the footage again. The undeniable truth playing out in high definition on the wall screen.
Wrinks’s knees buckled first. She särk slowly to the floor, hands trembling, tears already carving tracks down her cheeks. But the sight of her on her knees made no impact on anyone in the room. Not anymore
“Sir… please let me explain,” she whispered, voice cracking.
I spoke before anyone else could.
“I’m the one at fault,” I said quietly, regret heavy in every syllable. “I should have… I shouldn’t have let you go free the other time.”
The room froze. Every head turned toward me.
Wrinks lifted her tear-streaked face, eyes pleading.
“Snowflakes…. please. All I did was… not intentional.”
Really?” My voice came out colder than I intended. “Let me guess. You did it to put food on the table for your old mother and children?”
She froze, realizing exactly where I was going. The excuse she’d been building died on her lips.
She lunged forward, crawling toward my legs, hands reaching.
I stepped back swiftly, decisive. My heart had already hardened.
Mr. Castle’s voice cut through the tension. Calm, authoritative.
“Has she shown this attitude to you before?”
I nodded, exhaling shakily.
“When I first arrived as a profiler. Our first case together.”
“Mr. Billions?” Mr. Gerald asked.
“Yes,” I met his eyes. “Kashi was arrested because Wrinks claimed she found new evidence at the crime. scene. It was a lie. All of it forged. Because Ares paid her.”
Shock rippled outward like a stone dropped in still water.
Mr. Gerald turned fully to me. “And you kept it a secret?”
“The case was resolved. She swore she’d change. She had so many people depending on her. Family, children. I believed her.” I looked down at Wrinks still on her knees, still reaching. “Until now. How dare you try to frame my brother for murder again? Once can be forgiven. Twice is unforgivable.”

“It’s not my fault,” Wrinks cried, voice rising in desperation. “It’s not my fault! I was scared. Ares was interrogated and he was frantic. He demanded updates and… he wanted Ossy J dead. I couldn’t do it. I
in’t but Ossy I didn’t deserve to live. He raped you. That’s why I did it.”
I scoffed, sharp, disbelieving.
Quince stared at her like she’d grown a secotid head.
“Is she serious?” he asked the room. “You committed murder because he sexually assaulted the victim? Is that even an excuse? What are you to her that you’d take that step? That’s a lie. You killed Ossy J because he was our only living lead. You killed him because you were paid to. That makes you a murderer.”
“I was not the murderer!” Wrinks shouted. “I didn’t know he would die. It was Zayah who gave me the injector!”
All eyes swung to Zayah.
She stood like a statue, pale, rigid, knowing the end had arrived.
Then defiantly, she lifted her chin and fixed her gaze on Sera.
The look she gave was pure venom, contempt, envy, hatred so thick it burned the air.
Yet
“Seraphine Castle,” Zayah spat. “Born into wealth. Engaged to the perfect, wealthy man. You had everything.
you came here to play forensic. I was here before you but because your father is director, you were handed the head of department while 1, who worked years was shoved aside. Unacceptable. I wished every single day your relationship with Roc would crash and burn. I got my wish. And now I just wish you’d drop dead and die.”
The room went deathly quiet.
Goosebumps rose on my arms.
Mr. Gerald spoke quietly, firm.
“Seraphine Castle is a wealthy woman by inheritance… but she earned that position as head of forensics. She arrived years after you, but when it came to lab work, autopsies, research… you and I both know she’s better. That’s why you’re jealous. Bitter.”
He turned to me.
“Snow also… deserves to be here as a profiler. I’ve never seen a woman as strong and stable as her. A victim and a profiler on the same case. If I were her, I’d have crawled into a hole and rotted.”
Silence swallowed the room again.
Goosebumps rose on my heart.
Mr. Gerald. Mr. Gerald finally acknowledging me?
Mr. Castle’s voice broke through, low, final.
“What should be done now?”

Wrinks crawled forward, desperately toward the director..
please. Help me. Please pardon me. I have children. An old mother. I beg you.”
Mr. Castle looked down at her.
“H.O.W.L. will take care of them. Do not worry. All you have to do is prepare to rot in prison for planting false evidence to implicate Kashi Frost, for murdering Ossy J in custedy, and for falsely accusing Eshar Frost of murder.”
“No!” Wrinks screamed, raw, broken.
Mr. Castle turned to Zayah.
