Chapter 1248: Accept?

To be clear, seeing a holographic prompt for the people of the Stellar Engineering Era was as common, or even more common, than people seeing their own reflections.

With most people practically glued to the convenience offered by their terminals, it wasn’t unusual to see someone walking around with several holographic widgets floating in front of them, visible only to their eyes as they went about their day.

One such person was the Tech Specialist, whose eyes were currently fixed on a rather blown-up prompt that would’ve seemed perfectly standard had the very person who’d apparently brought them there not looked so confused by it.

Still trying to process everything, the infamous witch of the Military HQ slowly turned her head toward Luca.

Her mouth seemed to have stopped functioning properly, mostly because there were so many questions fighting to come out at once that she couldn’t decide which one deserved to go first.

But even through the total overstimulation, alarm bells started ringing in her head when she realized that Luca Kyros looked a tad bit too gobsmacked for this to be a regular occurrence.

Her rising panic certainly wasn’t helped when Curtis finally managed to voice the question neither of them seemed capable of properly putting into words.

"Uh... Is that normal?"

The young Kyros hesitated before answering.

"Well, maybe this one," he said, pointing a finger at the enormous prompt. But then he shifted the same finger toward something farther away. "But not exactly that one."

Eden followed where his finger had moved.

Her gaze traveled past the prompt and into the distance, where three massive prongs of light were shooting straight up into the sky!

Obviously, her pupils dilated in pure distress, but it wasn’t simply because Luca had said that the sudden light show was unusual.

Screw the damn beams, because which part of this was even normal to begin with?!

Was it normal for her to suddenly end up in some enormous, unfamiliar place without even taking a single step outside Marshal Julian’s office?!

Was it normal for her feet to touch ridiculously lush grass for all of a few seconds before the scenery changed again, and they immediately found themselves standing in front of some unrecognizable tower?!

And was she seriously expected to ignore all the familiar faces already gathered there?!

Because unless she’d somehow suffered severe brain damage during whatever had just happened, that was definitely Minister Kordell over there with something questionable sitting on top of his head.

Oh. And Princess Nina. Her duck, her wolf, and even the all-too-busy Imperial butler!

Then, as if Eden needed further evidence that she might’ve suffered a concussion, there was another young royal standing among them who, judging by those very distinctive ears, wasn’t even from the Empire of Solaris!

Thankfully accustomed to seeing, hearing, and experiencing things most people would probably dismiss as some elaborate hoax, her confusion eventually gave way to an extreme suspension of disbelief.

Then again, it was either that or an asylum for her, so suspension it was.

However, just when she thought her blood pressure was finally starting to stabilize, she noticed something moving in the distance.

No.

Not something.

A lot of somethings.

There was an entire swarm flying and buzzing through the air and heading straight toward them!

Eden instinctively tensed.

Curtis noticed it at practically the same time, his posture immediately shifting as both their attention snapped toward the approaching mass.

And yet somehow, inexplicably, that didn’t seem to be everyone else’s primary concern either.

Apparently, the central issue here was that the usual singular giant beam of light above the strange building had now split into three.

"No, Host! I swear! All I had going on were the usual scans, a same-day edit of the earlier oath, and Season 22, Episode 19 of My Fiancé Has Amnesia, But Unfortunately His Mistress Doesn’t!"
