The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL] novel Chapter 499

Chapter 499: Praises

Probably.

However, it was rather expected when they themselves ended up in serious bathroom situations when they first encountered ice cream.

And for a child who was fortunate enough to experience all of this and probably more, the Prince thought that it would be better to educate her on a little bit of restraint.

After all, with how his little wife doted on her, she’d likely end up getting interrogated in the palace for showing up looking like an actual glowstick.

But hey, she would probably just blend in with all the adults who were out there looking a tad bit similar.

Just, well, greener.

Like King Garick, who was currently shell-shocked by the missing food.

Where?

Where did it go?

"???"

Where else but his stomach?

For the King, who had just proved to be the father of the Princess, ate each slice in a single bite without realizing it.

And it was devastating.

While the others were savoring each perfect bite of crust, sauce, and toppings, the Orc King could only look around at the people who still had something to eat because he, the proud king, had none.

Even his old aide avoided his gaze, pretending not to notice the silent accusation coming his way. His hands tightened protectively around his plate as he internally pleaded for forgiveness.

Apologies, Your Majesty! But at this rate, this may be the only chance to eat something like this before I die! thought the old aide, who justified eating his own food with his age and the probability of croaking earlier.

And all of this was seen by Princess Kira, who sat perfectly still, her hands folded neatly, her three remaining slices untouched.

Never in her life had she exercised this much restraint.

Her eyes flicked to her father’s pitifully empty plate, then back to her own three slices.

Slowly, she picked up a slice with the server, holding it out with all the solemnity of someone parting with a limb.

"Father," she said, her voice calm but her fingers clinging desperately to the handle. "Would you like...some more?"

But her question attracted the attention of everyone, as if she’d threatened to bomb the place. However, it did so for a different reason, as the members present, who were, for the most part, parents themselves, could only gasp at what they thought was the height of filial piety.

Dozens of heads swiveled toward her, jaws slack, eyes wide.

And how jealous they were of the child who would say that to their parents!

Like Duke Azren, whose ear nearly burst from hearing such unfamiliar words. His twins would rather start a rebellion than offer him even a crust of pizza. Heck, they even had to fight over the right to buy a membership!

And yet here was Princess Kira, offering her precious slice with such grace!

The voices grew louder. Praise mixed with envy, a chorus of humans who could only dream of raising such a child.

The King’s shoulders squared as he heard them.

His great ears caught every word.

And for the first time in a long while, he sat up taller in his chair, feeling oddly proud.

"Not only is she talented for being able to enter this famous guild with her own skills, she’s even gotten benefits for her family."

"Yes, how refreshing! Meanwhile, every time I come here, my child insists on the possibility of bringing home even a morsel! But it’s not like I don’t want to! It’s just not allowed!"

"Ah, My Lord! I feel you. I’m here after being threatened to succeed in purchasing from the store, or I may not be able to go home after today."

There was laughter from people who could empathize, and then there were praises for the King, who never thought he’d get such comments from humans whom they hadn’t bribed.

He hadn’t even threatened anyone, and yet he had been lavished with praise for his apparently amazing child.

Well, he knew that, of course! But for a very long time, it was only he who knew that. After all, the Princess always had a knack for cleaning up those whose words she didn’t like.

It was a rather unique feeling. And even more so when he ate the food that he had initially been about to decline.

He was sure his body had been delighted by a taste he hadn’t gotten to savor earlier, but the three slices he now savored seemed to delight his soul more.

Was this the feeling of a proud parent?! It probably was—or maybe just the sadistic joy of reveling in other parents’ envy and literal tears.

Either way, wasn’t that a win-win situation?
