Chapter 63: Narrow Escape

Luca stopped when he felt faint, and for the first time, he didn’t pass out after exhausting himself like that.

Maybe it’s because of the manuals he used or because he decided to pull away before getting too deep.

Since Luca was an inexperienced Guide, he barely had any idea of his maximum limit.

Typically, Guides back in Tesseris were trained in this to avoid exhausting themselves. They were too precious, and just one breaking their core from depletion would be a huge loss to society—unless, of course, you were Lucas.

But it was probably karma of some sort because it was nearly impossible to drain Lucas of his energy, and he was able to hold on for much longer than they expected.

However, that was prior to entering this body.

And this was rather difficult for someone who was so used to relying on his spiritual powers for everything.

Thankfully, Xavier took advantage of the situation and bolted out of the place, citing a medical emergency.

"You’re awake, aren’t you?" Xavier asked while he breezed through toward the infirmary.

"I’m going to be fine. There’s no need to go. I was just dizzy."

They wouldn’t be able to help him there, not when they could not provide him with what he needed.

Xavier stopped momentarily and decided to explain. "The instructors will look for you here. After nearly fainting like that, what else would you expect?"

"But I’d recover faster if we just go back to the dorm."

"Then, make sure to act well enough so we can leave as fast as possible."

"I presume you don’t want them catching up on you?"

He shivered at that but tried to stay calm in case he called more attention to himself.

"If you don’t want to talk about it, then fine."

"You have your secrets, and I have mine. We’ll keep it that way."

"But we’re going to team up for the next test, so don’t even try hiding to escape." Xavier’s eyes narrowed at him, a subtle threat that was definitely received.

This got Luca nodding his head like a good woodpecker.

He didn’t expect Xavier to have such an outlook, but he said it directly, making it sound like a business proposition.

Most people would find it intimidating, but Luca found it comforting. He felt like he was being taken seriously.

People would forcefully extract secrets from him more often than he would like. He had no genuine concept of privacy until he learned how to safely hide away in his space.

There really weren’t many ways to hide when people even went as far as to inspect his organs under the microscope. All in their quest to find out the secrets to his spiritual abilities.

Xavier’s back now looked different in his eyes, and he felt like he was willing to slink around the guy if it meant this much CP!

He still remembered how much 94,000CP cost him and could see how much of a lucrative business it was to just stick to the guy!

Luca and D-29 tried to come up with ways to do just that while Xavier was lectured (merely glared at) the tree eggs that were still on the ground.

However, soon, he realized that he did not need to come up with anything, as the three eggs, particularly his supposedly good brother, had managed to nail them to a coffin with just a few words.

After a lengthy session of begging for reconsideration, their lives, and the chance for redemption, they managed to leave the dorm room with their heads intact. However, Ollie failed to get past the dragon.

But just then, Kyle received a message from his elder brother.

"What happened there? Why do we have an expedited notice to allow the Orc Princess to enroll at the Royal Military Academy?"

Kyle nearly tripped over his feet.

Was it too late to pack his things and hide away on one of those unchartered planets?

He had to ask his brother if the request was approved, but deep inside, he knew it probably would. No one knew what really happened, and they wouldn’t have known that an even bigger scandal was spreading across the academy.

Ollie and Jax noticed Kyle’s reaction and wanted to know why he was suddenly acting like that.

But instead of answering them, he just asked, "You guys have life insurance?"
