Chapter 789: The Spin That Shook the Hall

Or it could absolutely crash and burn because how many people would be born with the same luck as the redhead who thought of the wheel in the first place?

A crowd now formed around the booths, and they were in various states of dumbfoundment.

There was a lot of confusion. The guilds left and right of DG’s booth were even more perplexed because the gathering crowd outside their own displays was acting strangely.

But how could they not be weird when some people were shedding tears while others were bracing themselves or bracing each other. Heck, there were even people doing all three things while eating.

Like the small family of three who had taken their food to the side after having the brilliant idea of purchasing three lemonades, two sets of potato balls, and one set of mini doughnuts so they could taste everything the stall offered.

And it was insane, alright.

The child, in particular, almost toppled over when he opened the small box of mini doughnuts.

Inside were three tiny rings that looked almost magical.

The boy’s eyes grew rounder and rounder as he leaned forward.

The first ring was dusted in a sparkling coat of something called cinnamon sugar. It shimmered in the light like sand beside a glowing dune.

The second ring was brown and glossy, covered in a smooth glaze that looked thick enough to swallow the world.

The third was a cheerful pink, so bright and unusual it looked like a delicate jewel.

He didn’t understand the names at all. But the child definitely intended to memorize and immortalize them.

The colors, the texture. The warm and inviting scent that greeted them was definitely something he would never forget.

It overwhelmed him.

Finally, he reached for the brown one.

He bit into it.

And that was the moment his world shifted.

His small body dropped straight to the ground, legs folding as he sat down abruptly with a soft thump.

But even as he sat there in pure shock, he immediately wrapped his tiny arms around the box like a protective dragon guarding treasure.

No one suspicious was allowed near the doughnuts.

It was like that for everyone.

People took a bite, froze, stared into the middle distance as if receiving ancient wisdom, then ate faster.

And for some reason, they all remembered what the jackpot winner had said.

As well as Luca’s gentle explanation about their farm being the source of all the ingredients.

So they scarfed their food down—barely chewing—and ran to the other side to try their luck.

"AAAAHHHHHHH!"

"NOOOOOOO!"

Guttural screeches, cheering, and various prayers that sounded suspiciously like curses echoed through that far corner of the expo hall.

And that was the scene Sam and Marco stumbled into after following the other attendees toward DG’s booth.

Obviously, they were surprised.

They had initially thought an accident had taken place because even before they turned the corner, they could already hear those strange sounds. But then the smell finally reached their noses, and the two soldiers stiffened.

Marco whispered, "Is that...?"

Sam inhaled again. "It isn’t the frittata. But something this aromatic can only come from one place."

And sure enough, as they rounded the final corner, the two soldiers froze.

Right before them, someone was slumped on the ground, trembling like softened putty while being assisted by Young Lord Luca Kyros.

"!!!"

Sam and Marco rushed forward at once.

Marco reached Luca first. "Young Lord Luca! What happened?"

Luca blinked calmly. "Well, our dear customer seemed to have lost strength in his body after getting Try Your Luck Next Time."
