The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL] novel Chapter 994

Chapter 994: Social Death

In the initially dead silent hall that echoed the word "husband" for every available ear to hear, a spectacle of reactions had just unfolded.

But never mind the crowd who experienced collective auditory issues that were definitely not hallucinations, as well as the livestream viewers, who felt like their screens had lagged in place.

Because in contrast to the family and friends who ended up on their feet, there were those who were almost swept away.

Like the aforementioned husband.

Xavier Solaris, Imperial Crown Prince of the only enduring Empire, survivor of countless life-and-death situations, including, but not limited to, assassinations and the likely demise from spiritual power imbalance, almost tripped on flat ground.

Yes, quite literally close to face-planting on the extremely polished ground as he heard the outcry of an aggrieved chipmunk that had every hair on his body standing on end.

Looking to the left, then looking to the right, it was only then that the arriving husband managed to say, "...what?" in the middle of what looked like a new battlefield.

But while Xavier was attempting to process what he had just heard, another heir was experiencing something else entirely.

If one were to compare it to anything, then Cassian Veyra’s internal state would have looked suspiciously like an electrocardiogram machine.

At first, there was a sharp spike. A sudden, violent reaction to Luca’s words that sent his thoughts racing in every direction at once.

Then came the erratic rhythm.

Jagged lines of disbelief, confusion, and something dangerously close to indignation as he tried to process what had just been said.

Then another spike, much higher this time.

Because as the meaning sank in, as each word replayed itself in his mind, the pattern only grew more chaotic.

Until—

Flatline.

Not the kind that came from physical harm.

No.

This was something far worse.

A social death.

A complete and utter shutdown as his brain simply refused to cooperate.

Because what exactly was he supposed to feel, much less do?

Cassian stood there, so completely and utterly dumbfounded that he couldn’t even begin to explain just how wrong all of that was.

Just how in the stars did this guy end up drawing that conclusion out of all the possible conclusions?

Worse, the more he looked at Luca, the more his mind insisted on one horrifying truth.

This creature—

This guy... he actually believed it with every fiber of his being.

What kind of idiot was this one?

Cassian’s fingers twitched in visible distress.

Stammering for probably the first time in his life, the proud heir to the Federation experienced a blow like no other as he said, "Y-young Lord Luca, I think there’s a misunderstanding here—"

"I definitely didn’t—"

He couldn’t even begin to repeat the cadet’s words out of fear of passing out due to the absurdity and humiliation. But he was certain that he had absolutely no such thoughts on some guy from some backwater Barony.

In front of power, money, and control, why would he even bother to have designs on anyone like that? If anything, he wanted to get rid of him!

But Luca really couldn’t see it like that.

Especially when, in his originally peaceful and lively mind, it had already turned into a tale of how the Federation representative sought to get rid of him first.

Then again, it wouldn’t be impossible to draw such a conclusion when the little Guide heard him talk about filling his shoes.

With there being no issue with bidding and winning dances from multiple candidates, the golden-eyed cadet’s eyes widened as D-29 prompted a rough plan for how Cassian could have tried to bid for him so he and Xavier wouldn’t get a chance to be with each other.

Then, with stick figures virtually drawn with much gusto, the little system marked large X-marks on the eyes and a protruding tongue on one character that was supposed to be Luca.

Definitely an oh no.

His eyes shook. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

And with his eyes came the hearts of everyone else.

Nine times?

And what things?

Rhys Corvan, adjutant to the heir of the Federation, felt his feet quake in his boots because he couldn’t even begin to fathom what the hell was happening.

But at the same time, the question gripped him.

Because knowing his boss, he would have tried to get under someone’s skin.

However, Cassian was extremely skilled when it came to needling his way in and inciting others, so such a thing had never happened to them.

So what was this?

And why was it happening in the middle of such a crowd?

Well, Kyle Nox wanted to note that experiencing Luca Kyros would never be complete without the mini heart attacks as well as image rearrangement.

But considering they weren’t on the same side, what Kyle awaited the most was how Cassian planned on escaping such an innocent question.

Would he rather admit to being interested in other ways and be branded a poacher in the middle of enemy territory?

Or would he swallow the stigma that would reach the Federation faster than he could even return home?

Of course, Cassian could always argue that he was being slandered. But see, when faced with someone like Luca, it was crucial to remember that the louder the protest, the guiltier the party.

As such, even if Cassian ended up waging a war against the Empire, would he really be able to stop everyone’s internal association?

Thankfully for Kyle, this time, he only needed to watch while restraining his little star, who gasped enough for at least ten people.

The blonde was surely a crowd all by himself.

Then again, there was really no helping it when his mop’s good brother was a one-man show.
