Jinx’s P.O.V.
“You sure about this?” Ice asked as we pulled up in Sophie’s neighborhood. We took a blacked out
van instead of our bikes so as not to alert anyone.
Our club is known in this town. Most people either turn away when they see us or look away, like if they don’t make eye–contact, then we won’t see them. They’re afraid, but that’s because of all the rumors. Anyone who truly knows us, knows we aren’t bad people. We might do some illegal things, but we never deal in people. We protect them. We help others when they need it. We protect women and children. We welcome brothers to pledge their loyalty to us. We do charity runs, pitch
in with the community, help out where we can.
Which is why the police in town usually get along with us. Well, that’s part of it. War and Russo have a sort of partnership. It’s helpful to have the cops on our side. Just like in cases like this.
However, they can only do so much if a bunch of rich white people start calling them, telling them
they heard motorcycles in the area. Not that we think the neighbors would call the cops for no reason, but our bikes would draw attention. And like I said, people are scared of us. Plus, the cops
can’t force Sophie and Theo to drop the charges against Thorn. Russo could only promise not to officially process the charges until tomorrow afternoon.
Which means we need to do a little convincing.
“Yes,” I replied as I put on my black gloves and made sure I had my knife and gun.
“And you’re going along with this?” Ice asked Psych. “You’re the most level–headed one in the entire
club. You really gonna let Jinx go all batsh.it over some chick? I mean, his name is Jinx for a
reason. You gotta know this is a bad idea.”
I gave Ice a flat look. My name is Jinx because trouble seems to follow me everywhere I go. No.
matter how good I tried to be at something, or how well I tried to behave, something always happened. It was always an accident. Always something that just fu.cking happened. Just like the
situation that landed me this nickname to begin with.

Ice got his roadname for a reason too. He’s cold, blunt, straight to the point. Even before he went off to be a marine he was like that. I’ve heard his mom joke about how he came out of the womb emotionless. Not even a tiny cry out of him. He’s really not that unemotional, but around most people he is. Until he’s comfortable with you. But you don’t want to be on his bad side. Trust me.
And Psych… Well, he’s named that because he’s good at fu.cking with people’s heads. Not to mention he’s fu.cked up himself. However, he excels in stealth. He’s professionally trained and
damn good at whatever job he’s given too.
“He’s not going batsh.it,” Psych said.
“And this ain’t about Thorn,” I grumbled. They both looked at me, and I frowned. “What? It isn’t,” I said defensively. “I’m doing this because she’s great with my kid and I owe her. Besides, she don’t
deserve this sh.it. Waylen would lose his mind if she went to jail.”
Ice sputtered out a laugh.
“Please,” he said. “She’d do probation at the most.”
“Not the point,” I replied.
“Just admit that you like her, and I’ll shut up,” he retorted.
I glared at him.
“I don’t like her,” I ground out. “It’s Waylen that’s attached to her.”
“Uh huh,” Ice replied sarcastically.
“Okay, look, it was my idea,” Psych cut in. “I asked Jinx if he wanted to come. I need you because
you’re stealthy too.”
“This was your idea?” Ice asked incredulously. “Are you in love with the plant girl too?”
“Jesus fu.ck! I’m not in love with her!” I said, a bit too loudly.
“Not in love with her,” Psych replied, both of them acting like I hadn’t said anything. “She earned my
respect and Jinx is right, she doesn’t deserve this. Shoulda seen her earlier. Shoulda heard what
they said to her. You’d be all for this sh.it too.” He said as he tucked his gun behind his back. “Plus, I
promised her the club would have her back. Gotta keep our word.”
“For fu.ck’s sake,” Ice muttered before pinning his stare at me. “You better take this fu.cking opportunity now that she’s single.” He stated. I immediately opened my mouth to deny it, but Ice shook his head before I could get a word out. “Don’t even try to deny it. You can lie to yourself and everyone else, but you’ve had a thing for that girl since y’all were little. Not tellin‘ ya to settle down and put a property cut on her. I’m just tellin‘ ya to go for it. Fu.ck her out of your system if you think

“Which makes Sophie an even bigger bi.tch,” Ice stated.

“Yeah, so can we get on with this?” I asked before continuing through the house without waiting for
an answer.
Ironically, we actually ran right into the happy couple in the living room. They were looking for candles to light, assuming the power was just out for some reason. Theo noticed us first. His eyes went wide, and he swallowed hard. He was shirtless, only wearing a pair of gray sweatpants. He
looked like he was about to sh.it himself, and it brought a smile to my face.
“Theo, what are you doing just standing – Oh my god,” Sophie said, finally noticing us. Her eyes bounced between our faces and cuts. At first, she looked scared. And then, stupidly, so stupidly, she looked smug. “You guys here to tell me to drop the charges against Deidra or else?” She asked,
crossing her arms like this was all a big joke.
“Yeah, actually, we are,” Ice stated.
Sophie scoffed.
“Please, you guys forget, I know you,” she said. “I know your road–names, your real names, your cuts, your MC. I can name you to the police, point you out in a line–up, or do whatever else. You can’t force me to do anything.”
“Is that a challenge?” Psych asked as he stepped forward, making Sophie take a step back. “It’d be
kind of hard to tell the police anything if I cut out your tongue, wouldn’t it?”
“Are you threatening me?” She spat. “Do you know who my father is? Who my fiance is?”
“Oh, we met earlier, remember?” Psych replied.
“J–just leave,” Theo said, stuttering.
Pathetic.
God, what did Thorn ever see in him?
“How about you two have a seat?” Ice suggested as he pulled his gun out and pointed it at them.
They both paled. Sophie hid behind Theo, but he looked ready to bolt the moment he was given the chance to. Fu.cking pathetic. They deserve each other.
“This because of you?” Sophie asked, narrowing her eyes at me.
“Me?” I asked with a raised brow. “You blaming me for fu.cking over the one person in your life who would have given you anything? You ruined a 20–year–long friendship over numb–nuts here who looks like he’s about to throw you at us and run.”

“Not that,” Sophie spat, eyes narrowing more. “I mean defending her honor or whatever this is,” she
said, waving her hand in the air. “Since when did any of you give a fuck about Deidra Hartman?”
I stepped forward until I was right in front of them.
“This is because Deidra was in the right place at the right time to ask for help, and you two pi.ssed off my brothers during that process.” I said, my voice low and dangerous. “Deidra earned respect from my brothers, and now we’re here to make sure Psych keeps his word to her.”
“His word…?” She mumbled, finally sounding scared.
“Drop the charges, Sophie,” I said, looking her in the eyes. “Give me your word now… Or Psych here is going to show you exactly how he got his road–name.“\
“Fu.ck that!” Sophie yelled, glaring at me as tears filled her eyes. “Tell that bit.ch that once she calms down and talks to me like a normal person, then I’ll drop them. Deidra is going to have to come around eventually. I don’t care if I have to push her into it. I am not dropping those charges.”
A smile slowly spread across my face.
“I was hoping you’d say that.”

Hey guys! There have been a few questions about when I’ll start dropping double updates. I am not sure when this will be, but it won’t be until after the holidays. Sorry about that! I have a lot going on due to the holidays and a trip out of my home–state to attend my little brother’s graduation. There will still be double updates on Sundays though! Thank you for your understanding and support! (:
