The Scumbag's Guide To Heroism novel Chapter 96

Chapter 96: 96 | Mommy’s Missed You

Jesus Christ.

The mommy thing should not work on me the way it did. But here I was, hard as steel under her, and she definitely felt it.

"Handle what exactly?" I asked.

"Sloane." Diane’s lips moved to my ear. "You plant the idea. You be sweet. But I’m the one who’s going to sell her on this."

"You are."

"Mmm." She bit my earlobe, catching it between her teeth with just enough pressure to send heat straight down my spine. "I’m her mother. I know exactly how she thinks. What arguments work on her. What she needs to hear to convince herself." Her tongue traced the shell of my ear in a slow, deliberate line that made my breath catch. "You just need to be exactly what you are."

"And what’s that?"

She pulled back enough to look at me. Her eyes were darker than I’d ever seen them, pupils blown wide with want that had nothing careful about it.

"Someone worth sharing."

Then her mouth was on mine. Hard. Hungry. Her hands fisted in my hair with enough force that it bordered on pain and she kissed me like she’d been holding back for three solid days and was done with it. Maybe she had been. Three days in Chicago doing business negotiations while thinking about this exact moment.

I grabbed her hips and pulled her down harder against me. She moaned into my mouth, the sound vibrating between us. Her hips rolled once, testing. Then again, grinding down against the bulge in my boxers with deliberate pressure.

"You have no idea," she breathed between kisses, each word punctuated with another movement of her mouth, "how many times I touched myself in that hotel room." Another slow roll of her hips that made my grip tighten. "Thinking about you." Her teeth caught my bottom lip. "About coming home to you." She released it. "About having you right here exactly like this."

"Show me," I said against her mouth.

Her smile was wicked and beautiful and promised things that should have been illegal.

"Oh, I fully intend to."

Her hands went to my shirt. She pulled it up and over my head in one fluid motion, tossing it somewhere behind her without looking. Then her mouth was on my chest, lips and tongue mapping a path down my sternum, pausing to kiss every line of muscle she found along the way.

"You’ve gotten bigger," she murmured against my skin. Her hands spread wide across my ribs, fingers pressing in to feel the muscle underneath. "More solid." Her mouth moved lower.

"That’s what happens when your daughter kicks my ass every morning."

"Don’t talk about my daughter while I’m trying to seduce you."

"You brought her up first."

"Shut up." She bit my nipple. Not gently.

I hissed through my teeth. She soothed it with her tongue.

"You taste so good," she said, kissing lower. "I missed this. Missed having you to myself."

Her hands traced down my sides. Following every line of muscle. Mapping territory she’d claimed weeks ago.

"You’re mine too, you know," she said quietly. "Not just hers."

"I know."

"Do you?" She looked up at me through her lashes. "Because I think you’ve been so busy being sweet with Sloane that you forgot who had you first."

"Diane."

"I had you first." Her fingers hooked into the waistband of my boxers. "I made you mine first." She started pulling them down. "And I’m not giving that up."
