Chapter 124
Mia woke to find Stefan’s arm wrapped around her waist, his face buried in her hair. For the first time in weeks, she didn’t feel the careful distance he had been keeping. His body was pressed against hers, warm and solid, the way it used to be.
“Good morning,” she whispered, turning in his arms.
Stefan’s eyes opened slowly, and when he saw her face, he smiled.
“Good morning, beautiful,” he said, his voice rough with sleep.
They made love that morning, slow and tender, with Stefan’s hands shaking slightly as he touched her. But it wasn’t from fear anymore.
It was from want, from the weeks of holding back, from the relief of finally having her back in his arms. From wanting more and more from her.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered against her neck afterward. “I’m so sorry for shutting you out.”
“We’re okay now,” she said, running her fingers through his hair. “We’re going to be okay.”
Over the following weeks, Stefan slowly returned to the man she had married. He still worried about her, still checked in more often than he used to, but he no longer treated her like she might break. He even let her drive herself to work when he needed to be somewhere else, but his men still followed her from behind.
Their physical relationship came back gradually too. Stefan was careful at first, gentle in a way that made her heart ache with love for him. But as the days passed, his confidence returned. Soon they were back to their old selves, stealing kisses and making love with the passion.
Three weeks after the incident, Mia returned to their company. She had been nervous about going back, but Elena, had done such a good job covering for her that most people didn’t even realize she had been gone.
“You look good,” Elena said, appearing in Mia’s office doorway with a cup of coffee. “Rested.” She’d been busy that she hadn’t visited Mia the way wanted too.
“I feel good,” Mia said, and she meant it. “Thank you for handling everything. I know it wasn’t easy running both our departments.”
“It was nothing. Besides, Mose helped me coordinate with Stefan’s side of things.” Mia smiled.
The first week back was busy but manageable. Mia threw herself into projects, grateful to have something to focus on besides the lingering memories of what had happened. Her team welcomed her back warmly, and slowly, everything began to feel normal again.
But the biggest change in her life wasn’t work. It was Ethan.
Their relationship had grown stronger during their recovery. What had started as awkward half-conversations in the hospital had developed into something real. They texted each other regularly now, sharing stupid jokes and updates about their days. He had even started coming over to their house for dinner sometimes.

“He’s good for you,” Stefan had said one evening after Ethan left. “I can see it in your eyes when you talk about him.”
“I never thought I’d have a brother, and now, We’re close” Mia had replied. “It’s strange, but good strange.”
Stefan had pulled her close then, kissing the top of her head. “I’m glad you have him.”
Meanwhile, MSS World continued to grow. The company that she and Stefan had built together was thriving The company had become so successful that people had stopped talking about the Meyer’s and Sterling’s empire. They were already breaking records, landing contracts that neither company could have managed.
Stefan was proud of what they had built together, but he was even prouder of how Mia had handled everything She had returned to work with a confidence that impressed everyone around her. She led meetings with authority, made decisions with clarity, and somehow managed to be both professional and warm with everyone she worked with.
Samuel and Jeremiah had been unusually quiet since the incident. It was as if they had simply vanished from their lives.
Jeremiah Sterling, somehow, he had managed to avoid any real consequences for what he had done. The investigation had been dropped, the charges mysteriously dismissed. No one could explain how he had managed it, but everyone knew he had connections, money, and influence that reached into places most people couldn’t imagine.
It was a Saturday morning when Stefan and Mia decided that Elena and Mose needed a break. The two had been working non-stop, covering for them during the crisis, and both Stefan and Mia could see the exhaustion in their faces.
“You need a vacation,” Stefan told Mose over breakfast while Mia nodded in agreement. “Both of you.” Elena wasn’t around, she’d visited the office that morning to save a file she insisted needed to be saved.
“We don’t need a vacation,” Mose said, but Stefan could see the lie in his eyes.
“When’s the last time you took Elena somewhere nice? Just the two of you?” Mia asked.
Mose couldn’t say a thing.
“Then it’s decided. Three days. We’ll handle everything here,” Stefan said.
“Stefan, I can’t just……..”
“Yes, you can. And you will. If you don’t, I’ll fire you.”
Mose stared at him. “You wouldn’t.”
“Try me.”
Later that day, Elena had visited Mia, at the pent house,
“You’re going on vacation,” Mia said, closing the door behind her.
“I’m sorry, what?”

“Three days. You and Mose. Go somewhere nice. Relax. Remember why you fell in love with him in the first place.”
Elena laughed. “You know I can’t leave. There’s too much to do.”
“There’s always too much to do. That’s not the point. The point is that you’ve been working yourself to death covering for me, and Mose looks like he hasn’t slept in weeks covering for Stefan.”
Elena stared at her best friend for a long moment, then smiled. “You know, ever since you and Stefan worked things out, you’ve both become very concerned with other people’s love lives.”
Mia felt her cheeks warm. “I just want my friends to be happy.”
Elena’s expression softened. “Okay. Three days. But I’m checking email.”
“No, you’re not.”
“Mia…..”
“Elena. No email. No phone calls. No work. Just you and Mose, being happy. Make love”
Elena let out a loud laugh that lasted for a minute, Mia just stood there looking at her. “What happened to my friend? Stefan has really spoilt you” Mia blushed.
“That’s not the point her, and you know it.” Elena looked at her with an amused look. She raised her hands up in surrender.
“Alright. I’ll go with Mose and make sure we both have a mind blowing, long lasting sex” The both friends burst out laughter.
Monday morning, Stefan and Mia practically pushed them out the door. Mose had rolled his eyes when Stefan started lecturing him about romance and treating Elena well.
“I still can’t believe you’re giving me relationship advice,” Mose had said quietly that Stefan had almost. Almost missed it. “Six months ago, you couldn’t even say the word ‘love’ without breaking out in hives.”
“That was different,” Stefan had replied, shocking Mose who wasn’t expecting any reply.
“Because I didn’t understand it then. I thought love was weakness. Now I know it’s the strongest thing in the world.” Stefan continued, looking at him seriously.
Mose had shaken his head, but he was smiling. “When did you get so whipped?”
“The moment I married her,” Stefan had said without hesitation.
