Chapter 24
Mia walked through the hallway with her head held high and shoulders straight. She looked calm and confident, but inside, her heart was twisting.
But now wasn’t the time to show pain, it was time for strength. Her heels clicked softly against the floor as she approached her father’s office.
Behind a sleek glass desk sat his secretary, a woman in her forties with sharp eyes and a neat bun. “Miss Meyer,” the woman said with a small smile. “Your father is expecting you. He’s in his office.”
“Thank you, Melissa,” Mia replied with a nod. She walked to the large double doors and paused, her heart thudded once. Then, she knocked.
“Come in,” came her father’s voice.
Mia took a deep breath and stepped in. Her face instantly changed, softening into something timid and sad.
“Dad,” she said quickly, walking toward him with open arms like she wanted a hug.
Samuel Meyer didn’t get up. He simply placed his hand on her forehead, stopping her gently but firmly.
“Sit down, Mia. This isn’t a time for family reunion.” Mia slowly lowered her arms. She was expecting his reaction, but that doesn’t make it hurt less.
She sat down across from him and tried to steady her voice. “Dad, it’s not what you think. I swear, I’d never try to hurt you.’
Samuel looked at her for a moment, then leaned back in his chair. “Fine. I forgive you.”
Mia blinked, surprised. But he wasn’t done.
“On one condition,” he added. “You must cancel your engagement to Stefan Sterling and marry Julian.”
Mia stared at him. Did he really just say that? He must be delusional.
“I’ve already spoken to Julian,” her father continued. “He’s ready to forgive you, but you’ll need to end the engagement the same way you announced it.”
She couldn’t believe it, she nearly let out a loud laughter, but held back. Her face not letting out even a tiny bit of her thoughts.
“Dad… I love Stefan Sterling. I know you and my father in-law have your issues, but can’t you just let it go, for me, your daughter?” Samuel almost spat out his coffee. He slammed the cup down on the desk.
“Don’t you ever call that man your father-in-law again. Not in my presence.
Mia stayed quiet, but she was rejoicing, this was exactly what she wanted.
))
“I thought you’d understand me and change your mind because you love me dad. I came to give you this” she said in the most pitiest face, while bringing out the invitation from her bag.

“I hope you attend father” she dropped it on his desk before walking out. Samuel couldn’t believe his eyes, so Mia would really go against him. He could feel his blood boiling, he pick up the cup and smashed it against the
wall.
……..
Ethan held the door open for Elena, letting her step into the sleek, neatly arranged office. She walked in slowly, her eyes scanning the space with quiet recognition.
“Please, make yourself comfortable,” he said, walking to the other side of the desk. “I can get you something if you want, coffee, tea? Just say the word.”
Elena leaned against the nearest chair, arms folded. Her tone was sharp. “For someone planning to reap where he didn’t sow, you’re not very smart.”
Ethan froze for a second, clearly caught off guard. His smile faltered, he looked at her, unsure of what to say.
“Don’t you have a heart?” she continued, her voice sharp. “You’re here smiling like you didn’t just ruin someone’s entire life. Are you trying to rub it in Mia’s face?”
“I just want us to act like family,” Ethan said quietly.
“Family?” She laughed bitterly. “You think that’s how this works? That she’d just forget everything, and jumps into your arms with hugs and kisses?”
Ethan looked away sadly.
“She found out about you on her birthday, the day she was supposed to take over what she’s earned. And then you showed up and took it from her.”
He swallowed hard but said nothing.
“This office,” Elena said quietly, her eyes landing on the desk. “It used to belong to Mia’s mom.”
Ethan looked at her, shocked. “I….. didn’t know that.”
“Of course, you didn’t,” she snapped. “You’ve just walked in and started taking space without knowing what it
cost.”
She stepped back, her voice firm. “I don’t like you. And I know Mia doesn’t either. So take what you’ve been handed and stay away from her.”
Ethan sat down slowly, her words weighing heavy in the room. He didn’t ask for this, he never meant to take anything from Mia. But now, he wasn’t sure if he could fix any of it. Because, everyone already saw him as the villain.
As soon as Mia stepped into Ethan’s office, she spotted Elena standing near the door with her arms crossed. Mia walked in calmly, holding a small cream-colored envelope in her hand.
Without a word, she held it out to Ethan.
He glanced at it, then up at her. “What’s this?”

“My engagement invitation,” Mia said, her voice cool. “You’re invited.”
Ethan looked at the envelope, stunned. “Mia……” But she had already turned around.
“Let’s go, Elena,” she said, not sparing him a second glance.
Elena followed without hesitation. They walked out with their heads high, not once looking back.

They arrived at Sterling Corporation few minutes later. The tall glass building loomed ahead, sharp and sleek, a reflection of power. This was Mia’s first time here.
As she stepped inside, she hesitated. What if she wasn’t allowed in? She approached the front desk, where a sharp-looking receptionist greeted her.
“Good morning. Do you have an appointment?” she asked politely.
Mia blinked. How could she forget that?
She pulled out her phone to call Stefan, but just then, a soft, surprised voice called out.
“Mia Meyer?”
She looked up, confused. The young woman standing a few feet away looked just as shocked to see her. Tall and graceful, with dark curls pinned in a soft bun and elegant pearl earrings, she had a striking resemblance to
Stefan.
“Sienna?” Mia asked, surprised.
Sienna smiled and walked toward the front desk. “Please let them through, they’re with me.”
Elena raised a brow, eyeing the girl she’d never seen before.
“I take it you’re here to see my dad?” Sienna asked.
Mia nodded. “Yes. Can you take us to his office?”
“Of course,” she said, extending a hand toward Elena. “I’m Sienna, Stefan’s younger sister.”
“Elena. Mia’s friend,” Elena replied, her tone guarded.
Sienna chuckled. “Relax. I’m not like the others. I don’t support my dad’s twisted plans, no biting needed.”
Mia let out a quiet laugh. “Sorry, she doesn’t mean to be rude.”
“I get it,” Sienna replied with a smile. “Follow me.”
They took the elevator up to the top floor, and as the doors slid open, Mia was struck by the space.
This looked just like her father’s office. Polished floors, a glass wall with a city view, minimalist yet luxurious. These two men could’ve been brothers, same taste, same power-hungry aura.
Sienna turned to Elena. “Would you mind waiting here a bit? I’ll take Mia in first, then come back for you.”
