THE SPITEFUL BRIDE: Marry To Rival's Son novel Chapter 78

Chapter 78

The church ceremony ended with a warm cheer. Applause echoed through the ancient stone arches as the officiant pronounced them husband and wife. Stefan led Mia down the aisle, hand in hand, her veil gently swaying with every step.

Cameras flashed. Smiles were stretched wide. The choir burst into a lively tune as flower petals rained gently over them. The church glowed with life. Everyone was happy except some few set of people. Though they put on a pretentious look.

Outside, the sun cast a soft golden hue on the newlyweds as guests gathered for pictures. Mia stood beside Stefan, his hand never leaving her lower back. They took pictures with everyone, Elena, radiant as ever, standing close to Mia in all of them, and Mose beside Stefan, adjusting his cufflinks with a subtle smirk.

The couple took pictures with the Sterlings family, and the Meyers family. Nobody could ever believe that Samuel and Jeremiah would ever pose for a pics together. But on this day, what always looked like the impossible happened.

As they posed for a group shot, Mia caught something. A lock. Elena had laughed a little too quickly when Mose whispered something to her. She blinked. Then noticed how Mose’s hand lingered a little longer than usual on Elena’s back. Mia tilted her head, smiling faintly.

Something was definitely going on. She’d ask Elena later, if Elena didn’t confess first.

Then came the drive to the hotel banquet hall. The ballroom shimmered with crystal chandeliers, soft violins playing as guests trickled in. Gold-trimmed linen, white roses, candles floating in glass. A dream Mia hadn’t dared allow herself to have.

She’d won the first part of her plan. When she’d made the proposal, she never imagined she’d be this happy marrying Stefan. But here she was beaming with smiles that she didn’t know when the pretence ended.

She and Stefan sat at the head table, her dress fanned out like something from a royal painting. Stefan, beside her in his rich tailored black suit, looked like a king. Not just because of his poise…. but because he sat beside her like he owned the moment. Like he was right where he belonged.

The MC announced it was time for the toast.

Mia’s heart fluttered. She turned to Elena, who grinned and adjusted her dress. But before Elena could stand,

Samuel rose from his seat.

“I hope you don’t mind,” Samuel said smoothly, lifting his glass. “I know this was meant to be for me, but as the father of the bride… I couldn’t pass up the honor of saying something.” Mia’s breath caught.

Elena froze mid-smile, turning slowly toward Samuel. Mose’s brows furrowed instantly. Stefan’s jaw tightened. His fingers, resting on the white cloth, curled slightly.

But Mia… she simply nodded. Her voice soft. “It’s fine.” He had already apologized, even though she knew he might have ulterior motive. But there’s nothing he can do, that would break her. Not today.

Samuel walked to the front, taking the mic confidently, champagne in hand.

“My daughter looks beautiful today,” he began, eyes locking with Mia’s. “I’ve watched her grow, fall, get up, and grow again. She is strong. Maybe stronger than I ever was. And today… I know she’s found happiness.”

Mia’s eyes welled slightly. Despite everything, hearing those words meant something.

“She and Stefan….” he turned slightly, “…..are like fire and ice. But somehow, they melt into each other. And I know

WILL YOU MARRY ME

… despite how we started, despite whatever history we have I believe this will be something that lasts.”

He smiled wider. Too wide. Then he lifted his glass higher. To new beginnings. To family. And to the ones we love.”

Everyone raised their glasses politely.

They are thought he was done, but they were never wrong because Samuel took a pause and brought the microphone to his mouth again.

“Some thing just came to my mind,” he said smoothly, smile wide. “But if I may… I’d love to do something extraordinary.” There was a pause. Everyone looked on confused.

Stefan’s eyes darkened a little. Mose turned toward Elena. She slowly eased back into her chair, hesitant.

Mia hesitated too…. but nodded. “You can go ahead, Dad.” He was already with the mic, why not just continue.

Samuel paused a little before continuing “seeing my daughter today……seeing her in love……reminds me of something.”

Mia tilted her head, eyebrows pulling together.

“I don’t want to wait anymore. Life is short. And love is rare. And sometimes… if you’re lucky, you get a second chance.”

Murmurs rose in the room. Mia’s breath caught in her throat. What was he talking about?

Stefan narrowed his eyes slightly, sensing something coming.

Samuel turned his body slightly, extending a hand. “Cassandra, could you come up here, please?” Mia’s entire body stiffened.

Elena sat up straighter. Mose couldn’t help but mutter, “What the hell?”

Cassandra, elegant in a champagne-colored gown….. smiled tightly and stood. She looked confused at first, then surprised as Samuel took her hand.

Right there, in front of the crowd, Samuel slowly got down on one knee.

Gasps spread like wildfire. Cameras clicked. Someone dropped a fork.

Today was really a world record breaking day.

First, they just witnessed the country’s rivals children get married.

Then, they witnessed them take a picture together with a wide smile. Saw Samuel and Jeremiah smile, for the first time in years. They didn’t even smile on their wedding.

Now, Samuel Meyer was about proposing to his long time baby mama. On just any day but on the day his only daughter is getting married.

The Internet was buzzing. Agenda’s were flying around.

“I know this might not be the time or place…..” Samuel chuckled, “but what better day to celebrate love than at my daughter’s wedding? Cassandra, you’ve brought light into my life again. I don’t want to waste another second. Will you marry me?”

Mia’s heart thudded. She sat frozen.

Her wedding. She’d just thought her father couldn’t do anything to hurt her. But this. This was like a punch on the ribs.
