THE SPITEFUL BRIDE: Marry To Rival's Son novel Chapter 86

Chapter 86

Like, Stefan wants them to act like real couples? Nah, maybe she got his meaning all wrong

Maybe he meant, they should act like real couple because of the media. Yes, that was it.

She was still in discussion with her subconscious when she felt Stefan shift beside her. Before she could fully process it, he moved again…… settling himself behind her, gently guiding her until she was seated between his legs, her back resting against his firm chest.

She froze for a second.

Her head tilted slightly upward in confusion. “Uhm… what are you…. doing?”

She could feel his arm resting loosely around her waist, the heat of his body as it pressed against her in a way that sent all kinds of unfamiliar tingles through her skin.

“I saw a couple sit this way earlier,” he said casually, as if this was a normal activity, “and people around were gushing. Taking pictures. Whispering like it was the most romantic thing ever.”

Mia’s brows lifted, her lips twitching in amusement, though he couldn’t see her expression. “When did you start caring what people say?”

“It’s not that I care,” he said smoothly. “I just don’t want it to look like we’re faking this. We’re newlyweds. The media are watching.”

Her heart skipped.

Once again she has been proven wrong.

She tried turning slightly to look at him, to gauge his expression…. but the moment her hips shifted, she stilled.

Oh no.

Her body pressed into something unmistakably solid.

Very solid.

Her breath caught mid-turn. Her muscles froze.

Did she just… did she feel what she thinks she felt?

Behind her, Stefan stiffened. Absolutely still for a split second, then he held her arms…. as if holding her still so she wouldn’t make any other movement.

And she didn’t even dare breathe. How could she? She just sat still, none of them saying anything.

But then she felt his breath shift. Warm against her neck. She held her breath. Was he going to kiss her on her neck?

She could feel him slowly leaning in, like something magnetic was pulling him. She instinctively tilted her head to the side.

Her heart was galloping.

And when his nose brushed her bare skin, her breath hitched. Everything vanish. The beach, the noise, the world… they all melted away.

He was going to kiss her neck, and she wanted him to. All the butterflies on her tummy were rejoicing. They

wanted this too.

Right before his lips touched her, her phone blared.

She jumped, startled, as if waking from a trance.

She scrambled for her like someone caught in a forbidden act. Stefan let go of her arms slowly, swearing under his breath as he dragged a hand down his face, frustration dripping from every inch of his being.

Mia blinked at the screen. “It’s Matteo…”

Of course it was.

“I swear those two are going to do more harm than good,” he muttered to himself.

She picked up and put the phone to her ear, struggling to catch her breath. “Hello?”

“Don’t forget the party,” Matteo said cheerfully, oblivious to the scene he just interrupted. “Remember, we’ll be starting by S. Do not get carried away by each other and forget. Can’t wait to see you both!” he added quickly not even giving Mia a chance to respond.

“Yeah, sure,” Mia said with a weak smile, barely managing to keep her voice steady.

Stefan just sat there behind her, brooding, his jaw clenched as if he were imagining throwing Matteo’s phone into the Pacific Ocean.

When the call ended, Mia stood abruptly, smoothing her sundress.

“I’m… uh, pressed,” she mumbled, not daring to look at him.

Before he could say anything, she turned and started walking briskly toward the villa, her heart pounding so loudly she could hear it in her ears.

She touched her neck absently. What just happened? Why did it feel like he was about to kiss her sexually? This wasn’t the usual kiss they always had.

And why did she wish… he had? She knew what would have happened if the kiss had taken place.

Her cheek heated by the thought.

Behind her, Stefan remained seated, jaw tense, fists balled into the towel beneath him.

He looked in-between his legs, still surprise by the reaction he was having. This had never happened before, he’d never lost control before. Nor, has his body ever reacted this way, all she did was just move.

Mia stepped into the suite’s bathroom, leaned against the cool marble wall, and exhaled the breath she didn’t know she’d been holding. Her heart was racing. Not the light flutter she used to feel when someone complimented her. No….. this was heavy, loud, chaotic.

She splashed cold water on her cheeks and stared at her reflection.

Why was she reacting this way? She could feel a certain kind of heat between her legs. No man had ever made he feel something like that, and he didn’t do anything, only just his nose tip brushing her neck bone. That was all it took for her to feel this way.

She stayed in the bathroom for few minutes before stepping out, when she finally did, Stefan was no longer in sight.

“Of course he left,” she mumbled. Not after she’d spent the whole year in the bathroom. But unknown to her, Stefan was having a very cold bath because of her.
